MotionFlow is a Blender add-on that adds depth and weight to animation by behaving like a stylized contact shadow and edge separation system, giving objects perceived depth and form. Its technology is inspired by a research paper published by Walt Disney Animation Studios.
The add-on supports all major animated object types — Meshes, Armatures, Curves, and Empties — and stores motion data frame-by-frame with a clean folder structure. A simple UI runs in the Sidebar, with one-click Compositor Nodes setup. The Motion Smears feature applies adjustable outline smearing that smears an object's Grease Pencil outline so they bleed into the background, with an adjustable sample count for precision. It provides clean, customizable motion vector passes independently of Blender's render passes.
Version 1.3 adds a heavily optimized Convex Hull that decreases render time, and includes documentation and a video tutorial. MotionFlow works with Blender 3.6 to 5.0 and the Cycles, Eevee, and Freestyle render engines.
