Spline FFD
by luisllamas
Spline FFD is a 3ds Max tool for moving multiple mesh vertices at once by editing a spline that passes through selected points. Moving the spline's points repositions the original mesh vertices accordingly.

Earns its place in the scriptspot library for its grounded slope UV approach, which keeps tile textures proportioned across different pitch angles.
MW RoofGen 2 builds hip roof geometry from any closed spline outline in 3ds Max. The workflow is direct: pick a shape, set a roof angle, and hit Create. It accepts any closed spline as input, from simple rectangles to L-shapes and freeform outlines, and resolves the ridge intersections for each shape automatically. You can also generate roofs for multiple selected splines in one pass.
Optional UV generation maps each roof face with grounded slope projection. Each face is UV-mapped independently, with its bottom edge locked to V=0 and U=0 at the edge start. Coordinates are projected along the true slope surface, so tile textures keep correct proportions across different pitch angles. Width and height inputs set the real-world tile size and drive the UV scale.
MW RoofGen 2 requires 3ds Max 2026 or higher and runs through the Scripting menu using the supplied .mse file. This is version 2.0.
MW RoofGen is best for 3ds Max artists generating hip roof geometry from spline outlines with tile-ready UVs.
MW RoofGen is completely free to download and use.
MW RoofGen 2 requires 3ds Max 2026 or higher, so it will not run on 3ds Max 2025 or any earlier release. If you are on 2026 or a newer version, you can load it through the Scripting menu and start generating roof geometry from your splines. For the current list of supported versions, check the developer's page at markwhelandev.com/tools before you install it.
MW RoofGen 2 installs by running the script file directly. In 3ds Max 2026 or higher, go to Scripting > Run Script, then choose the MW_RoofGen_2 .mse file wherever you saved it. From there you pick a closed spline, set a roof angle, and hit Create to generate the geometry. The download and further usage notes are on the developer's page at markwhelandev.com/tools.
MW RoofGen 2 can generate roofs for multiple selected splines in a single pass rather than one at a time. Each shape is handled on its own, and the script resolves the ridge intersections for every outline automatically. It accepts any closed spline as input, including simple rectangles, L-shapes, and freeform outlines, so a mixed selection can be turned into roof geometry together in one operation.
MW RoofGen 2 is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing terms can change over time, so check the developer's page at markwhelandev.com/tools for the current terms before downloading. That page hosts the script file itself along with the usage notes. To run it after downloading, use Scripting > Run Script inside 3ds Max 2026 or higher and choose the MW_RoofGen_2 .mse file wherever you saved it, then generate roof geometry from your closed splines.
