Why we like it

Neat Video Pro earns its place in the toolfarm library for tackling a broad list of footage problems in one filter, from sensor noise to color banding. The 6.1 workflow additions make it more practical when a project has many clips carrying the same noise.

What is Neat Video Pro?

Neat Video Pro is a noise reduction plug-in from NeatLab Pty Ltd that addresses a range of footage defects. It targets visible pixel noise produced by the image sensors of modern video-capturing devices, grain present in digitized film, flicker caused by lighting conditions, jitter of details caused by video compression, compression artifacts, dust and scratches found in digitized film, electric interference that degrades analog video, and color banding.

Version 6 introduced a faster render engine. Version 6.1 added a simpler way to set up filter instances across multiple clips that share the same noise: once you set a Default Noise Profile and Default Filter Preset from one clip in a series, new filter instances automatically load them. If source frames are scaled or cropped, Neat Video uses the full frame data to improve filtration accuracy.

It works with After Effects, Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, with version 6.1.2 adding support for the Apple M5 Pro and M5 Max GPUs on Mac.

Who is Neat Video Pro best for?

Neat Video Pro is best for cleaning up noise and defects in footage across After Effects, Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, including projects with series of clips that share the same noise.

How much does Neat Video Pro cost?

Neat Video Pro is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Which After Effects versions does Neat Video Pro support?

Neat Video Pro works with After Effects 2026 through 2019 on both Mac and Windows. On Windows only, it also supports CC 2018, 2017, 2015, 2014, CC, and the older CS6, CS5.5 and CS5. Compatibility with After Effects 2026 arrived in version 6.1, which also added support for the latest releases of several other host applications, including Premiere Pro 2026.

Does Neat Video Pro support Apple M5 GPUs?

Neat Video Pro added support for the Apple M5 Pro and M5 Max GPUs on Mac in version 6.1.2, released April 9, 2026. An earlier release, version 6.0.9, added Apple M5 GPU support along with macOS 26 (Tahoe) compatibility. If you work on an older macOS release between 10.9.5 and 10.12.x, note that Neat Video 5.4 no longer supports those versions; version 5.3 remains available in your account for that case.

How does Neat Video Pro handle a series of clips with the same noise?

Neat Video Pro lets you set a Default Noise Profile and Default Filter Preset based on one clip in a series. When you apply the filter to other clips in that series, new filter instances automatically load those defaults, so you do not have to rebuild the noise profile and adjust settings for each clip. Their names are shown in the Device Noise Profile and Filter Settings panels so you know when the defaults are in use. This was introduced in version 6.1.

Is Neat Video Pro free?

Neat Video Pro is listed as free in this catalog, but that reflects how it appears here rather than the developer's own terms. Licensing can change over time, so check NeatLab's page for current details before you download or commit to a project. If you want to see the plug-in in action first, a demo video is available. It runs as a noise reduction filter inside After Effects, Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, so you can confirm it fits your host application before deciding.
