Nx CanvasFlow lets DaVinci Resolve users create impressionist brush strokes, reimagined for moving images. It transforms footage into expressive, painterly visuals inspired by impressionist techniques.
The look is built from several controls. Adaptive Artistic Blur adjusts brushstroke-like softness and abstraction through an adjustable neighbourhood radius, while Embossed Brush Texture simulates brush pressure with randomized angle embossing to add stylized depth and texture. Variance-Based Smoothing reduces noise and selects the most visually stable colors for a coherent painterly result, and Dynamic Edge Scatter scatters strokes for a more organic, chaotic feel. Mathematically stable, deterministic image processing keeps results temporally consistent and flicker-free.
Processing is GPU-accelerated, powering real-time preview and rendering with optimized sampling. Nx CanvasFlow works across the Edit, Fusion, and Color pages and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux via Metal, OpenCL, or CUDA. It requires DaVinci Resolve Studio 19.1 or 20.
