Earns its place in the aescripts library for handling a specific gap: transferring path data both ways between masks and shapes, with keyframe support.
PastePath lets you copy path data in After Effects and paste it between mask paths and shape paths. It works with both keyframed and static paths, and copying includes any associated transformations or path keyframes.
The workflow is straightforward: select a mask or shape path, click 'Copy Path' to copy the data, then apply it with 'Paste Mask' or 'Paste Shape'. Paste Mask applies the copied path as a mask on selected layers, while Paste Shape targets selected shape path properties or creates a new shape layer if no shape path is selected. You can copy multiple paths at once and paste to multiple selected vector paths, both with keyframe support.
Pasted paths carry the names of the paths that were copied. By default, keyframes are pasted at the CTI, and holding Ctrl/Cmd while clicking Paste applies the original keyframe times instead. A settings option can automatically fix masks with a clockwise direction so the feather tool works correctly. The shape group property Skew is not currently supported.
PastePath is best for after Effects artists who need to move path data between masks and shape layers, including keyframed and static paths.

PastePath supports Adobe After Effects CS6 and later. The developer lists compatibility spanning CS6, CC, CC 2014, CC 2015, CC 2015.3, CC 2017, CC 2018, CC 2019, and 2020 through 2026. Older versions than CS6 may work but have not been tested. If you run a version at the edge of that range, check the developer's page for the current compatibility details before relying on the script in production.
