Quick Sky earns its place for pairing preset geonode-based cloud skies with a bundled free Quick HDRI add-on, so scenes carry the ambient lighting the clouds need to render correctly.
Quick Sky is a Blender add-on from Mamba CG that generates animated cloud skies using geometry nodes. It comes in two versions. The Basic version provides essential cloud generation tools with six preset animated sky configurations, a simplified interface, and limited customization. The Pro version adds twelve cloud layers, advanced wind and turbulence controls, and granular geonode customization, with adjustable wind speed, angle, and cloud layers.
To render its clouds correctly, Quick Sky Pro needs proper HDRI lighting, so the download bundles Quick HDRI, a free add-on that creates a World environment with HDRI lighting and sets up basic illumination. Install it by locating quick_hdri.zip in your Quick Sky download folder and installing it like any other Blender add-on, then use it before applying Quick Sky Pro. Quick HDRI also works as a standalone tool.
A recent update added reference_sky_images.zip, a collection of high-quality real-world sky and cloud photos for matching real-life colors, depth, and mood. Documentation is included, and a demo video is available.
Quick Sky is best for blender artists building animated atmospheric skies and cloud renders; the Pro version is designed for professional 3D artists and animators.
Quick Sky is completely free to download and use.
Quick Sky Pro depends on proper HDRI lighting to render its clouds correctly, and the download bundles Quick HDRI, a free add-on, to handle that. Quick HDRI creates a World environment with HDRI lighting and sets up basic illumination so the clouds render as intended. Without an HDRI world, clouds can appear dark or gray and the lighting looks flat. Quick HDRI also works as a standalone tool, so you can use it on its own outside of Quick Sky when you only need HDRI-based lighting.
Quick HDRI installs like any other Blender add-on. Inside your Quick Sky download folder, find the file named quick_hdri.zip, then install it through Blender the same way you would any add-on. The developer recommends using Quick HDRI before applying Quick Sky Pro so the clouds render correctly. Quick HDRI can also be used as a standalone tool if you only need HDRI-based lighting. Documentation is included with the download for further setup details.
Quick Sky ships in two versions. The Basic version provides essential cloud generation tools with six preset animated sky configurations, a simplified interface, and limited customization options. The Pro version adds twelve cloud layers, advanced wind and turbulence controls, and more granular geonode customization, and is designed for professional 3D artists and animators. The Pro version also lets you customize wind speed, angle, and cloud layers, with presets that animate in minutes.
Quick Sky is listed as free here, covering the Basic and Pro references along with the bundled Quick HDRI add-on. Licensing and pricing can change over time, so check the developer's page from Mamba CG for the current terms before downloading. The download also includes the reference_sky_images.zip collection of real-world sky and cloud photos plus documentation to help you get started with your scenes.
