Random Roller is a script for After Effects that brings controlled randomness to how you work with layers. It can select a random subset of the layers in your active comp, assigning each a selected or deselected status at random, and re-rolling narrows that result into a subset of the previously selected layers. You can also invert the current random selection, randomize layer order, or randomize the selection order.
Beyond selection, Random Roller can sort layers into a chosen number of groups. Each layer that supports effects receives a Slider Control set to its group number. Group label colors can optionally be applied, layer names can be prefixed with the group number, and comments can be added to each grouped layer. Dedicated buttons let you select a specific group or add it to the current selection.

Random Roller's Randomize Selection Order function rearranges the order of your selection at random, and it was added in version 1.1.0 for use with the Quick Offset feature in After Effects. The script also offers a separate Randomize Layer Order option for reordering the layers themselves. Both sit alongside the selection tools in the panel, so you can move between randomizing selection, order and grouping in one place.
