RE:Map stands out in the toolfarm library for shifting UV and texture work into post, letting artists combine UV maps and textures in the compositor rather than re-rendering in the 3D system. Broad host support and GPU acceleration make it a flexible fit across pipelines.
RE:Vision Effects RE:Map is a set of mapping and distortion tools for compositing artists working in After Effects and DaVinci Resolve. Its focus is re-rendering UV maps in post, so you can clean up or replace texture maps without going back to your 3D system. Using a UV map rendered from a 3D application, you can reapply new texture sequences, adjust and color correct them, then reapply them to animated 3D objects.
The plugin works in both directions: start from a photo and a matching 3D object to build the texture map your render system needs, or paint and align textures in 2D and inversely project them. Beyond UV work, it includes corner pinning across a perspective plane defined by four points, 2D displacement mapping with advanced filtering controls, and a caricature effect that distorts a color image based on its features.
RE:Map applies high-quality filtering, including supersampling and mismapping to handle antialiased UV edges and areas where one section of an object crosses another. The product is GPU accelerated and runs across a wide range of host applications.
RE:Vision Effects RE:Map is best for compositing and post-production artists who want to adjust, replace, or re-render UV texture maps without returning to their 3D system.
RE:Vision Effects RE:Map is completely free to download and use.
RE:Map supports After Effects from CS6 through 2026, so recent releases are covered alongside older versions, distributed both for Adobe directly and through OFX hosts. If you're on a particular After Effects build, match it against RE:Map's listed range. System requirements follow whatever your host version needs, including Apple Big Sur support, which now runs under Rosetta 2 only. Check the developer's page to confirm the current version against your exact setup before installing.
RE:Map supports DaVinci Resolve 15.1.1 and up through its OFX build. That same OFX version also covers Fusion Studio 5.2 and up, Natron 1 and up, Nuke 5.1 or Indie 12.2 and up, Scratch, Silhouette 6.1.3 and up, Autograph, and Flame 2019.2 and up. System requirements match those of your Resolve version. For the most current compatibility details, refer to the developer's page.
RE:Map is GPU accelerated. Beyond acceleration, it applies high-quality filtering that includes supersampling and mismapping, an advanced feature for dealing with antialiased UV edges and areas where one section of an object crosses another part of the object. Hardware requirements follow whatever your host application needs, so there's no separate spec beyond your compositing software's own requirements. See the developer's page for full system details.
RE:Map follows the same OS and hardware requirements as the host version you're running, including Apple Big Sur support, which now runs under Rosetta 2 only. Because it inherits your host's requirements, compatibility on macOS depends on the After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or other host build you use, and there's no separate hardware spec beyond what your compositing software needs. The plugin runs across a wide range of hosts and is GPU accelerated. Confirm current macOS support on the developer's page before installing.
RE:Map is listed as free here in our catalog. Licensing terms can change, and RE:Vision Effects manages activation directly, so check the developer's page for current licensing before you rely on it for a project. On the technical side, RE:Map is GPU accelerated and supports a broad set of hosts, from After Effects and DaVinci Resolve to Nuke, Fusion Studio, and others.
