RXXR is a generator plugin from R/L for producing ASCII and pixel-based techno-glitch effects inside After Effects. It builds these stylized character- and pixel-driven looks through a set of adjustable controls within a composition.
The plugin ships with a range of character styles, and its Mix Style feature lets you blend built-in styles into new visual combinations. RXXR 1.1.0 introduced Mix Style for combining built-in character styles, added four new character styles, and added two new gradient presets alongside a new Gradient Shift controller. It also added a Dark Outlines mode for Edge Detect, reworked the Offset parameters with a new Wrap Edges parameter, improved Target Color performance, fixed issues with Flicker and Echo while adding new Echo modes, and increased the maximum values for Symbol Size.
RXXR's Edge Detect mode visualizes elements only along the edges of objects in the frame, rather than across the full image. It was introduced in the 1.0.5 release, and version 1.1.0 later added a Dark Outlines mode for it. The Grid's Expand Markers parameter, which is enabled by default in Edges mode, lets markers extend beyond cell boundaries when working with this mode.
