SnapKey earns its place in the toolfarm library by treating animation states as reusable assets, capturing multi-layer setups as a single Snap you can recall or blend directly in the comp.
SnapKey is an After Effects tool for capturing, blending and reusing animation states. It saves a complex setup across multiple layers as a single Snap, then lets you recall that state or blend between saved states at any time. It works with your existing setup, so you can add it without changing how you already animate.
Under the hood, SnapKey captures your current pose, stores it inside your comp, and lets you blend between saved states. That means you can build animation by reusing and combining poses instead of starting from scratch, with fast iteration happening directly in the composition.
The tool is aimed at switching poses, testing variations and building motion systems, keeping everything fast and editable as you work. It's compatible with After Effects 2026 and 2025, and the current release was last updated on 1 May 2026. A demo video is available for a closer look.
SnapKey is best for after Effects animators switching poses, testing variations or building motion systems who want to save, reuse and blend animation states.
SnapKey is completely free to download and use.
SnapKey is compatible with After Effects 2026 and 2025, which are also its stated requirements. If you run one of these versions, the tool fits into your existing setup so you can capture, save and blend animation states directly in your comp. For any other After Effects release, check the developer's page before installing, since only 2026 and 2025 are listed here. The current version was last updated on 1 May 2026.
SnapKey is listed as free in this catalog, so you can add it to your After Effects workflow without a purchase. Licensing terms can change over time, so it's worth checking the developer's page for the current details before relying on it in production. Once in place, SnapKey works with your existing setup and lets you save, recall and blend animation states across multiple layers directly in your comp.
SnapKey stores your saved poses inside your comp. When you capture a pose, it saves the current setup across multiple layers as a single Snap held within the composition, which you can recall or blend between at any time. Because the states live in the comp, you can reuse and combine them for faster iteration instead of rebuilding setups from scratch. This keeps everything editable as you switch poses or test variations.
SnapKey lets you blend between multiple saved animation states rather than only switching between them. After you capture poses as Snaps, you can recall a single state or blend across several at any point, which supports building motion systems and testing variations. The blending happens directly in your comp, keeping the process fast and editable while you combine poses instead of starting from scratch.
