Splash earns its place in the aescripts library for handling liquid trails and blobs procedurally while keeping granular control in the artist's hands.
Splash is an After Effects plugin from Plugin Play for procedurally generated liquid animation. It creates liquid trails and blobs on layers, and gives you granular control over the result. The plugin includes default Splash presets.
Its behaviour is shaped by settings such as Speed Threshold, which ties splash generation to a moving object's speed, and Gravity Angle. A Manual Mode with its own Direction angle is included, and as of version 1.03 the Gravity Angle default matches that Direction angle. A separate setting restores the default Splash presets.
Splash runs on a broad range of After Effects releases, from CC 2017 up to 2025, and version 1.02 added support for languages beyond English. The current release is 1.04 from October 2020. A demo video is available, and this catalog lists Splash as free.

Splash is compatible with a wide range of After Effects versions, including 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020, along with CC 2019, CC 2018 and CC 2017. That range runs from the CC 2017 era through the latest listed release, so it covers older projects and current setups alike. Splash added support for languages other than English in its 1.02 update. Earlier releases were English-focused, but from that version onward the plugin works within After Effects installations set to other languages. The same 1.02 update also fixed trial restrictions on the number of layers allowed. If you work in a non-English After Effects environment, you'll want version 1.02 or later, and the latest release is 1.04 from October 2020.
Splash includes a Speed Threshold setting that ties splash generation to a moving object's speed. As of version 1.03, its default value is 0, which means splashes are enabled regardless of how fast the object moves, and the underlying expression was adjusted to be more tolerant of slower movements. The same version also changed the Gravity Angle default to match the Direction angle used in Manual Mode. These sit among the granular controls Splash offers over the liquid it generates.
