Aura is a procedural plug-in for After Effects from Rowbyte that creates elegant geometric shapes in 3D space. It works much like a particle system, but instead of scattering small particles, it generates vector-like shapes, or waves, that change over time. The behaviour recalls the classic Radiowaves plug-in, and Aura can render hundreds of thousands of high-frequency waves to produce animated results.
The plug-in includes Multi-Frame Rendering support and SVG Export for sequences. A Dots Rendering Mode, Color Maps for gradients, Gradient Position Mode, and Camera Near/Far visibility settings are also part of the plug-in.
Aura runs on After Effects from CC 2017 through 2025 and supports Apple Silicon and M1 chips. Version 1.2.7, released in September 2025, addressed stability and compatibility issues in After Effects 2025 along with minor bug fixes. A demo video is available on the developer's page.
