vAEriable is a calculation script for After Effects. You can enter values by hand or load them directly from the timeline, then solve arithmetic, algebra, and cross-multiplication.
Values can be pulled from several sources. A selected mask loads its bounding-box size, a selected layer loads its size, and a selected comp or footage item in the Project panel loads its dimensions. The panel also handles values that are arrays and can copy either the true value or the absolute value of an answer.
Version 1.1.0 adds a one-click compare feature: with the top fields empty, select two keyframes or matching properties across layers and click Calculate to open a window comparing the values. A standalone script, Calc-vAEr.jsxbin, runs the compare function without the panel and can be tied to a hotkey or used with KBar. vAEriable supports After Effects 2026 through 2020, and a demo video is available.
