Why we like it

Earns its place in the scriptspot library by gathering the repetitive steps of a 3ds Max to Unreal Engine 5 handoff — export, transforms, cameras, lights and colors — into a single toolbar script.

What is All for UE5?

All for UE5 is a MaxScript by Vint26 that connects 3ds Max with Unreal Engine 5, aimed at saving time across the export and setup steps between the two applications.

The script covers several sections. It can build a folder structure based on 3ds Max layer names and export objects to Unreal Engine as FBX, using either a chosen path or that structure. It copies an object's Position, Rotation and Scale in both directions between 3ds Max and Unreal Engine, and copies a selected camera along with light sources. Supported camera types are VRayPhysicalCamera and CoronaCam, while VRayLight, CoronaLight, VRaySun and CoronaSun map to their Unreal equivalents. It also copies colors between the two applications with optional gamma adjustment, creates a UVW Map or Unwrap UVW separately or together, and configures the INI file for Luoshuang's GPULightmass.

Installation is done by dragging the mzp file into the viewport, then adding the command to a toolbar through the Customize User Interface menu. For UE5.4 and newer, a console command is required for FBX import; UE5.0 to 5.3 need none. It was tested on 3ds Max 2024.

Who is All for UE5 best for?

All for UE5 is best for 3ds Max artists moving scenes, transforms, cameras, lights and colors into Unreal Engine 5 through an FBX-based pipeline.

How much does All for UE5 cost?

Frequently asked questions

Does All for UE5 work with 3ds Max 2024?

All for UE5 was tested on 3ds Max 2024, so that release is the confirmed environment for the script. It is distributed as an mzp file that you drag into the viewport and add to a toolbar through the Customize User Interface menu, after which a restart of 3ds Max is needed. For behaviour on other 3ds Max versions, the developer's page at vint26.wordpress.com is the best place to check current details before installing the script.

What Unreal Engine versions does All for UE5 support?

All for UE5 accounts for Unreal Engine version differences during FBX import. For Unreal Engine 5.4 and newer, you need to run the console command Interchange.FeatureFlags.Import.FBX 0 before importing. For Unreal Engine 5.0 through 5.3, no console command is required. The GPU Lightmass section references the BaseLightmass.ini file, with the default path shown for version 5.3. For the latest guidance across Unreal Engine versions, the developer's page is the place to look.

How do I install All for UE5 in 3ds Max?

All for UE5 installs by dragging the mzp file into the 3ds Max viewport, then opening Customize > Customize User Interface > Toolbars, where the commands appear under the Vint26 category. Create a new toolbar, drag the «All for UE5 v1.10» command onto it, and restart 3ds Max. Once installed, the script adds sections for folder structures, FBX export, transform copying, cameras and lights, colors, UVW unwrapping and GPULightmass settings. A demo video is available.

Which cameras and lights can All for UE5 copy to Unreal Engine?

All for UE5 copies a selected camera and light sources from 3ds Max to Unreal Engine. Supported camera types are VRayPhysicalCamera and CoronaCam, and only one camera can be copied at a time. For lights, VRayLight (Plane) and CoronaLight (Rectangle) become RectLight, while VRaySun and CoronaSun become DirectionalLight, and multiple lights can be copied simultaneously. The script also copies an object's Position, Rotation and Scale in both directions between 3ds Max and Unreal Engine.

Is All for UE5 free to download?

All for UE5 is listed here as free, and the download is provided as the Vint26_All_for_UE5_v1.10.mzp file.
