ARRI Film Lab earns its place for pairing ARRI's color science with creative control over grain, halation, gate weave, and print stock emulation, plus the bundled ARRI Look Library.
ARRI Film Lab enables real-time 4K film look emulation in DaVinci Resolve, powered by ARRI's color science and image processing expertise. It adds a film feel to whatever look you have already developed, whether a LUT, a grade, or both. The plugin works with RGB images from any camera brought into a LogC4/C3 or Linear AWG4/AWG3 pipeline. Projects must use ARRI color management through to finishing, with ACES support planned.
Creative control covers the grain, color, halation, and gate weave associated with analog film stocks and post-production processes. Grain profiles include 50D, 200T, and 500T. Print and process emulation recreates the color characteristics of print stocks, reversal film, and lab processes such as bleach bypass. Because the workflow is ARRI color-managed, the film look stays consistent even when mixing footage from different cameras.
ARRI Film Lab ships with the ARRI Look Library plugin, which includes pre-defined looks for different environments and production types. An upcoming update for the latest ARRI cameras will enable non-destructive on-set previews of Film Lab settings.
