Blender Terrain Engine (BTE) automates PBR mixing, Anti-Tiling, and masking for terrain work in Blender, replacing complex node setups. It includes native Asset Browser support and works with existing texture libraries such as Megascans or PolyHaven, as well as landscapes exported from Gaea and other software, blending textures instantly. Materials are controlled through the BTE N-Panel, and manual changes inside the Shader Editor might be overwritten when the addon updates the material.
The Standard version bundles the BTE Core engine with four basic landscape packs featuring Gaea 2K-8K textures, including height map, color map, slope mask, flow mask, and snow mask. Each pack ships two asset types: Base, which carries only the color texture from Gaea, and Textured, a preset mix material built from CC0 textures. Both let you swap in your own textures.
BTE runs on Cycles. Eevee is untested and may cause issues or only show Bump or Normal maps. Using 4K or 8K textures can require shader compilation time depending on your GPU. It supports Blender 4.0 through 4.5, with full compatibility for the 4.2–4.5 Extension system, and is released under the GPL license.
