Book Rigger earns its place in the ScriptSpot library for turning any page count into an animator-ready rig from a single click. Version 3.5 restores compatibility with the latest 3ds Max versions and adds quality-of-life extras like the Oldness attribute and a Reset to Defaults button.
Book Rigger is a 3ds Max tool from masquerade that builds a full page-turn rig for any page count in one click. Once the rig is in place, you flip, land, and shuffle pages with simple interactive controls, and a global speed multiplier adjusts turn timing. Page materials can be set as single or double-sided, and diffuse textures can be driven by animated sequences.
Interactive controls cover page curvature, turn, land, and shuffle, while expression-based page turn, shuffle, and multiply functions handle the underlying animation. The 3.5 release is compatible with the latest 3ds Max versions and fixes the old crash and freeze issues.
Version 3.5 also adds an Oldness attribute for quick per-page noise to create a used or vintage look, a Reset to Defaults button to restore clean settings, and more animateable attributes including Flex Crease Center/Area, Turn Crease Center, Land Crease Center/Area, and Flex Angle.
Book Rigger is best for product catalogues and magazines, textbooks, notebooks and diaries, flipbook UI and app mockups, and title sequences and motion graphics.
Book Rigger is completely free to download and use.
Book Rigger 3.5 is compatible with 3ds Max 2026 and later, and this release fixes the old crash and freeze issues from earlier versions. It runs on 64-bit 3ds Max under Windows. If you're on an older release, check the developer's page at tikworks.gumroad.com for details on which versions are supported before installing. The rig itself works for any page count.
Book Rigger doesn't require a traditional installation. After downloading and extracting the ZIP you receive on purchase, you either drag and drop the Tik_Book_Rigger_3.5.mse file into the 3ds Max viewport, or go to Scripting, Run Script, and select the .mse file. On the first run, the Activate Book Rigger dialog appears so you can paste your Gumroad license key. Once activated, the UI shows your licensed email and the tool is ready to build rigs.
Book Rigger requires an internet connection for activation via a Gumroad license key on first run. After that, it works offline for up to three days and occasionally re-verifies when you're online. If those checks can't be made, a five-day grace window applies, after which you reconnect once to continue. It runs on 64-bit 3ds Max under Windows. If you hit a network error, the developer suggests checking connectivity and system time, since firewalls or proxies may block api.gumroad.com.
Book Rigger is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing is handled as a commercial single-user license per person, activated with a Gumroad license key, and you may activate on multiple machines you use exclusively. Activation is required on the first run before the rig tools become available. For current pricing and licensing terms, check the developer's page at tikworks.gumroad.com and the EULA included with the download.
