Earns its place in the Superhive library for keeping boundary edges, edge angles, and other characteristic edges intact during remeshing. Topology quality is lower than voxel remesh, a tradeoff worth noting before you choose it.
Boundary Aligned Remesh [Bookyakuno Edit] is a Blender add-on for remeshing that holds open edges, edge angles, and other characteristic edges in place. It is useful for re-meshing meshes extracted from high poly and geometry generated from cloth, text, and vector curve data. The add-on is a version derived from the add-on created by Jean Da Costa.
You can run it from the Mesh Data section under Properties, the Sculpt menu in the 3D View, or the right-click menu in the 3D View. Options include removing 2-side vertices and reducing polygons on the border, which prioritizes fewer polygons over maintaining complete boundaries. A Transfer UV option preserves UVs using a mesh transfer modifier, and a mirror option uses the mirror modifier to mirror across the X, Y, or Z axis after remeshing. Distinctive edges can be preserved by separating specified edges in advance, using edge angle, selected edges, seams, sharp, bevel weight, crease, and others.
Topology quality is lower than voxel remesh, and while it works on meshes without open edges, it may not work properly in some cases. It runs on Blender 2.81 to 5.1 under a GPL license.
Boundary Aligned Remesh [Bookyakuno Edit] is best for re-meshing meshes extracted from high poly, and geometry generated from cloth, text, and vector curve data, when boundary and characteristic edges need to be held.
Boundary Aligned Remesh [Bookyakuno Edit] is completely free to download and use.
Boundary Aligned Remesh [Bookyakuno Edit] is listed for Blender versions 2.81 through 5.1, so it spans a wide range of releases. It is distributed under a GPL license. The add-on is a version derived from the add-on created by Jean Da Costa. For current documentation and any version-specific notes, the developer points to the Documentation tab on the product page.
Boundary Aligned Remesh can be run from three places in Blender: the Mesh Data section under Properties, the Sculpt menu within the 3D View, and the right-click menu in the 3D View. From any of these you reach the Boundary Aligned Remesh command to remesh while holding open edges, edge angles, and other characteristic edges, whether you are working in object properties or directly in the viewport.
Boundary Aligned Remesh includes a Transfer UV option that preserves UVs using a mesh transfer modifier after the remesh. The add-on also offers a mirror option that uses the mirror modifier to mirror the result across the X, Y, or Z axis. In addition, distinctive edges can be preserved by separating specified edges in advance, based on edge angle, selected edges, seams, sharp edges, bevel weight, crease, and others.
Boundary Aligned Remesh produces topology whose quality is lower than voxel remesh, so that difference is worth keeping in mind when choosing between them. It works on meshes without open edges, but in some cases it may not work properly. Its focus is holding boundary edges, edge angles, and other characteristic edges, along with options to remove 2-side vertices and reduce polygons on the border, which prioritizes fewer polygons over maintaining complete boundaries.
Boundary Aligned Remesh [Bookyakuno Edit] is listed as free in this catalog and is distributed under a GPL license. For current licensing terms and any download details, check the developer's page. The add-on is a version derived from the add-on created by Jean Da Costa, and it runs on Blender 2.81 through 5.1. Further details are available through the Documentation tab referenced on the product page.
