Earns its place in the aescripts library for a narrow, practical job: keeping a camera in sync across compositions, with a 2024 update extending it to the Advanced 3D and C4D renderers.
Camera Instancer, from Blurrypixel Software, generates a camera in After Effects that instances the active camera from another composition. Once created, you can cut and paste that camera into any other composition you're working in.
The connection holds after pasting: changes you make to the active camera in the first composition are duplicated on the instanced camera in the second. This continues even when you switch which camera is active in the source composition.
Updated on October 1, 2024, version 1.0.1 added compatibility with Advanced 3D and C4D. Camera Instancer runs across a wide range of After Effects releases, from CS6 through the 2025 version. It's listed here as free, and a demo video is available; see the developer's page for current licensing details.
Camera Instancer is best for after Effects users who need a camera's edits mirrored across separate compositions.
Camera Instancer is completely free to download and use.
Camera Instancer supports After Effects 2025, along with 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, and 2020, and reaches back through CC 2019, CC 2018, CC 2017, and several earlier CC releases down to CS6. That range covers most versions you're likely to have installed. Version 1.0.1, released on October 1, 2024, is the current build noted here. If you're on a recent release, note that this version also added support for the Advanced 3D and C4D renderers.
Camera Instancer works with the Advanced 3D and C4D renderers, a capability added in version 1.0.1 on October 1, 2024. Beyond that addition, its core behaviour stays the same: it creates a camera that instances the active camera from another composition, which you can then cut and paste into other compositions. Edits you make to the source camera are duplicated onto the instanced one. Check the developer's page for full details on the renderer support.
Camera Instancer is listed here as free. This catalog doesn't publish a specific price, so for the current terms and any licensing conditions, the developer's page on aescripts is the place to confirm. Functionally, the tool creates a camera that instances the active camera from another composition and duplicates your edits to that camera into a second composition. Version 1.0.1, dated October 1, 2024, is the build referenced here, and a demo video is available.
Camera Instancer creates a camera that instances the active camera from another composition. Once you cut and paste that camera into a second composition, the modifications you make to the active camera in the first composition are duplicated on the instanced one. This holds even when you change which camera is active in the source composition, so your edits in one place carry across to the linked camera elsewhere.
