Why we like it

CamKeys earns its place in the Superhive library for tying shapekey and property changes to camera angle, with forced perspective, bone tracking, and keyframe baking combined in one addon.

What is Camkeys?

CamKeys, formerly CamShapeMatic, is a Blender addon from Beyond Studios that links shapekeys and object properties to camera angle. For each object, you can capture CamKeys or CamProps at as many camera angles as you like, so shapekey and property values shift with the camera's position.

Forced Perspective adds a custom field of view per object, letting you push or pull parts of a character or background closer to or further from the camera, configurable with falloff curves. You can drive the animation using either the selected camera or the 3D viewport, though keyframe baking works only in Camera mode. Bone Tracking works with rigged characters: select a bone to track so adjustments occur relative to that bone's orientation. Keyframe Baking bakes the driven shapekey values over a range of frames to generate animation data.

Interface text and documentation are available in English, Japanese, and Spanish. CamKeys runs on Blender 3.3 through 5.0 under a GPL license and holds a 5-star rating from five reviews on Superhive.

Who is Camkeys best for?

Frequently asked questions

Does CamKeys work with Blender 5.0?

CamKeys supports Blender versions 3.3 through 5.0, so it covers a wide span of releases including the 4.x series and up to 5.0. It's distributed under a GPL license. If you're on a version within that range, the addon should load. The listing notes it was published around four years ago, so for the newest builds or edge cases it's worth checking Beyond Studios' developer page and the documentation for any version-specific notes before installing.

Does CamKeys work with rigged characters?

CamKeys includes Bone Tracking for rigged characters. You select a specific bone to track, and shapekey or property adjustments then occur relative to that bone's orientation, so the driven values respond to the tracked bone rather than a fixed orientation. Combined with the addon's camera-angle driving, you can capture CamKeys or CamProps for a character across as many camera angles as you need while keeping adjustments tied to the bone you choose.

Can CamKeys bake its animation into keyframes?

CamKeys can bake its driven shapekey values over a range of frames through its Keyframe Baking feature, generating animation data automatically. One thing to note: baking works only when you drive the animation using Camera mode, not the 3D viewport. The addon lets you choose between driving from the selected camera or from the viewport, so if you plan to bake keyframes, use the camera option. Once baked, you have standard animation data across your chosen frame range.

Is CamKeys free to use?

CamKeys is listed as free here in our catalog, and it's distributed under a GPL license. Licensing and any commercial terms can change over time, so for the most current details it's best to check Beyond Studios' developer page directly. The addon carries a 5-star rating from five reviews on Superhive, where it sits among the many Blender products in the library. Confirm the current terms before use if licensing matters for your project.

What languages does CamKeys support?

CamKeys offers multilingual support: all interface text and documentation are available in English, Japanese, and Spanish. This means you can work with the addon's controls and read its docs in whichever of those three languages suits you. For teams or artists working across those language regions, the interface and help material stay consistent regardless of which one you use. The addon also ships with its own documentation covering its features.
