CenterLine earns its place in the aescripts library for extracting single-pixel vector paths from raster artwork and outputting them as native After Effects Shape Layers, with cleanup, styling, and export options built into one panel.
CenterLine converts raster artwork into clean, single-pixel skeletal vector paths inside After Effects. It draws on Zhang-Suen thinning, Schneider Bézier fitting, and Ramer-Douglas-Peucker optimization to turn bitmap sketches, logos, and calligraphy into native After Effects Shape Layers. Processing runs on the CPU.
The panel groups controls into source settings such as threshold, channels, invert, and map layer; output styling for width, color, gradient, taper, caps, and reveal; and animation options including reveal progress, chain stagger, and path offset. Skeleton cleanup covers smoothing, gap close, Bézier fit, and junctions, while chain selection lets you preview, set the start point, and reorder. Further options include merge operations, custom width points, dash patterns, stroke texture, particles, and multi-stroke outlines.
Extracted results can be exported as JSON, SVG, or Shape Layers. CenterLine supports After Effects 2026 and 2025 and is listed here as free. On aescripts it currently sits around rank 50.
CenterLine is best for turning raster sketches, logos, and calligraphy into native Shape Layers for write-on animations with Trim Paths.
CenterLine is completely free to download and use.
CenterLine is compatible with After Effects 2026 and 2025. Version 1.0.4 was released on July 13, 2026. If you're running either of those two host versions, the plugin is supported. For older or newer releases, the developer's page is the best place to confirm the current supported version range before installing, since compatibility can shift with each After Effects update.
CenterLine runs its processing on the CPU, so extraction does not depend on a dedicated GPU. The plugin requires After Effects 2026 or 2025 as its host application. It converts raster artwork into single-pixel skeletal vector paths through pixel and geometry analysis handled on the CPU. For any additional hardware or system requirements, the developer's page is the best place to confirm current details before installing.
CenterLine can export extracted paths as JSON, SVG, or native After Effects Shape Layers. The Shape Layer output drops straight into your composition, ready for use with Trim Paths and write-on animation. Export options also include blending selected chains into a single path. For full detail on how each of the export formats behaves and when to choose one over another, the developer's page is the best reference.
CenterLine is listed here as free. Licensing terms can change over time, so for current pricing, license details, and any usage conditions, the developer's page on aescripts is the place to check before downloading. That page also carries the latest version, the full changelog, and any updates to how the plugin is distributed. The version listed here is 1.0.4, released on July 13, 2026.
CenterLine 1.0.4, released July 13, 2026, fixed an issue where project settings reset when updating to a new plugin version. Parameter disk IDs are now frozen through DiskIDs, decoupling saved project data from internal code order. This keeps existing projects intact across updates. For the complete changelog, including earlier releases, the developer's page lists the full history of fixes and changes.
