Earns its place in the superhive library for bundling over 115 themed building assets with an included Cablecam movement rig, all built for Blender.
CityBuilder 3D packs over 115 modeled and textured building assets into a single Blender add-on, designed by 3D artists in Hollywood. You add buildings to a scene with the click of a button. The assets are organized into themed kits — Industrial, Metropolitan, Soviet, Hong Kong, Derelict Future, Cyberpunk Clean Future, Medieval and Warzone — with 15 assets in each, plus a bonus procedural asset that generates random variation.
Materials are optimized for the Cycles rendering engine and also work with Eevee realtime rendering. The kits suit set extensions and cinematic cityscape flyovers, and a Cablecam cinematic movement rig is included. Because the models and materials are detailed, performance can vary when many assets share a scene.
Unreal Engine project files are also included, with 60 converted assets from several of the packs. Documentation is provided, and a demo video is available on the developer's page.
Citybuilder 3D is best for set extensions and cinematic cityscape flyovers in Blender.
Citybuilder 3D is completely free to download and use.
CityBuilder 3D is listed as compatible with Blender 5.1.1. It works as a Blender add-on and adds its building assets directly into your scene with the click of a button. Its materials are optimized for the Cycles rendering engine and are also compatible with Eevee realtime rendering, so you can work in either. Because the assets are detailed 3D models and materials, performance can vary when you place many of them at once. For the latest supported versions, check the developer's page.
CityBuilder 3D contains fairly detailed 3D models and materials, so the developer recommends a computer used for computer graphics. Performance while using multiple assets in one scene can vary with your hardware. For reference, all the projects in the promotional trailer were created on a 2017 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM and an Intel HD Graphics 630 1536MB graphics card, which gives a sense of the baseline the developer worked from.
CityBuilder 3D includes Unreal Engine project files with 60 assorted converted assets, drawn from the Derelict, Industrial, Medieval, Metropolitan and Sci-Fi Cyberpunk packs. Each genre is contained in its own Unreal Engine project file for easy access. The Soviet and Hong Kong packs have not yet been converted for Unreal Engine. The core add-on itself is built for Blender, with its assets and materials designed for use inside Blender scenes.
CityBuilder 3D is listed as free in this catalog. The developer also offers future updates and CityBuilder 3D assets at no cost when you register your name during purchase of the full version. Licensing terms like these can change, so check the developer's page for the current details before you rely on them. The add-on and its growing 3D asset library are made for Blender.
