Cracker earns its place in the superhive library as a focused, hotkey-first cracking tool. Worth remembering that it edits real geometry and, per the developer, can ruin your model, so a backup is essential in a production environment.
Cracker is a Blender add-on for adding cracks to objects. The workflow is hotkey-driven: select an object, press Ctrl + W, adjust for the appearance you want, and apply. Adjustments show on the model in real time, and it operates from any angle, orthographic or perspective.
Crack shaping covers rotation, noise scale, width, move, bend, taper, and displacement, each mapped to a key. Hold Shift while applying to add multiple cracks without separating the object, and use the Randomizer for varied rotations and positions around an object's origin. The Stomper tool (Ctrl + R) rotates cracked objects to simulate impact on horizontal surfaces, while the Material Breaker (Alt + Y) handles shattering windows. Physics-based grounding drops a cracked piece to the ground using rigid body simulation, so a passive rigid body ground object needs to be in the scene.
Cracker works with real geometry and can ruin your model, so back up the object or scene first. Version 2.0 targets Blender 4.5 and up, and the Material Breaker requires Blender 3.4.0 or higher.
Cracker is best for adding cracks to objects like pavements and relics, shattering windows, and simulating impact damage in Blender.
Cracker is completely free to download and use.
Cracker 2.0 is built for Blender 4.5 and up. Within the add-on, the Material Breaker tool has its own requirement and works only with Blender 3.4.0 or higher. If you're on an older Blender release, check the developer's page for the version that matches your setup, since the product page is noted as being updated soon. Sticking to the stated versions is the safest way to get the cracking, grounding, and breaking tools behaving as described.
Cracker uses a hotkey-driven workflow. Select an object, press Ctrl + W, adjust for the appearance you want, and apply. While adjusting, individual keys control the shaping: S for noise, R for rotation, G to move, T for width, B to bend, D for displacement, and Q for taper, with the mouse wheel controlling detail. Hold Shift when applying to add multiple cracks without separating the object, and press Shift + C to move a crack to the 3D cursor position.
Cracker's physics-based grounding drops a cracked piece to the ground when you press Ctrl + Shift + LMB, and it leverages rigid body simulation. Because of that, your scene needs a passive rigid body ground object for the piece to land on. If a cracked piece disappears after the operation, it likely went astray during the simulation; press Ctrl + Z to undo, then adjust the crack angle or check for obstructions nearby before trying again.
Cracker can't break round objects such as vases or cups. For the Material Breaker's glass breaking, the object should be a flat surface with thickness, like window glass, and the front face must be a single polygon, with scale applied before use. The Stomper tool works only on horizontal XY surfaces. Keeping to these conditions matters, since Cracker edits real geometry and can ruin your model, so back up the object or scene beforehand.
Cracker is listed as free here in our catalog. Licensing terms can change, so check the developer's page on superhive for the current details before relying on it in a project. Support is handled through the developer's Discord server, where you can get help and connect with other users. Since Cracker works with real geometry and can ruin your model, a backup of the object or scene is recommended, which the developer calls crucial for production environments.
