Declutter earns its place in the aescripts library for turning project-panel cleanup into a repeatable, filter-driven process. The 1.5.x line added multi-filters per folder, import/export, selective targeting and faster sorting.
Declutter is an After Effects extension that automatically organizes a messy project panel. It sorts your assets into folder structures you define, using filters, color labels and folder names to route items into place. You can create and save as many structures as you want, whether you're working on a small project or a large production.
Sorting is built for speed, handling thousands of assets in seconds, with the current release delivering up to 3x faster sorting. Smart asset sorting adds search-by-name, so no prefixes are needed, and Selective Asset Targeting lets you organize specific assets or the entire project file. Import and export options let you swap structures with others for teamwork.
Declutter can filter audio, video and image files, recognise image sequences and data files, target specific extensions like .png or .c4d, and spot missing files. Preferences cover saving your project before organizing, wrapping organized items in a labeled top folder, removing old or new empty folders, and deciding how uncategorized items are handled.

Declutter includes a preference to automatically save your project before any changes are made, so your work is stored before sorting begins. Its preferences also let you remove old empty folders that were already in your project, clean up new folders that end up empty after sorting, and choose whether uncategorized items are skipped or moved to the root folder. These options give you control over how the panel is reorganized.
Declutter supports importing and exporting folder structures, so you can swap your structures with others for teamwork. You can create and save as many structures as you want, start fresh with a blank one, bring in an existing structure to use or modify, edit setups in the editor, and delete structures you no longer need. This makes it possible to reuse a consistent organization across projects and collaborators.
