Sequoia earns its place for letting you scatter Blender scenes with your own assets, not just a built-in set, backed by size, amount and randomness controls and a thumbnail-driven library.
Deezl Sequoia is a scattering add-on for Blender that populates scenes with trees, plants and other assets. Its Amount control lets you fill a scene quickly and watch the result update in real-time, while Size control grows or shrinks the elements and Randomness control generates non-linear patterns for more organic results.
Version 2.0 adds a thumbnail preview for browsing and picking elements, Color control for editing asset colors, and Subsurface control for adding a touch of realism to natural landscapes. Light path control is included, and the release ships with cleaner code and improved process speed. You can also add your own trees, plants and nearly anything else to the Sequoia database, create thumbnails for them, and use them with the Sequoia engine.
The add-on runs across a wide range of Blender releases, from 2.8 through 4.3, and comes with documentation. It's distributed under a royalty-free license, and a demo video is available.
Deezl Sequoia is best for building natural landscapes and populating Blender scenes with scattered trees, plants and other assets.
Deezl Sequoia is completely free to download and use.
Deezl Sequoia lists support for a broad span of Blender releases, covering 2.8, 2.81, 2.82, 2.83 and the 2.9 series through 2.93, along with 3.0 to 3.6 and 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3. That range means the add-on can slot into older projects as well as recent Blender installs. If you're on a version outside this list, check the developer's page to confirm current compatibility before installing.
Deezl Sequoia lets you add your own trees, plants and nearly anything else to the Sequoia database. You create thumbnails for the assets you bring in, then use them with the Sequoia engine alongside its size, amount and randomness controls. Version 2.0 introduced this ability to expand the database, so you aren't limited to a fixed set of elements when scattering assets across a scene. See the developer's documentation for the steps involved in registering new assets.
Deezl Sequoia 2.0 introduced a thumbnail preview for browsing and picking elements, Color control for editing asset colors, and Subsurface control for adding realism to natural landscapes. The update also added Light path control and the option to add your own assets to the Sequoia database with custom thumbnails. Alongside these features, the release brought cleaner code and improved process speed. For the full breakdown, the developer's page and documentation cover each addition in more detail.
Deezl Sequoia is listed as free in this catalog, and its stated license is royalty-free. Licensing terms can change over time, so for the most current details on pricing and usage rights it's worth checking the developer's page directly before you rely on it for a project. The documentation and product page are the best places to confirm what the royalty-free license covers and how you can use the add-on and its assets.
