Why we like it

Draftcraft stands out in the Superhive library for computing its depth map from a model's actual geometry rather than a screenshot, so the concept holds the original design. Note it is Windows-only and needs an NVIDIA RTX 30 or 40 series GPU.

What is Draftcraft?

Draftcraft turns a massing model into a concept visualization in under 10 seconds, running entirely on your NVIDIA GPU. Because the depth map is computed from your geometry's Z-buffer rather than estimated from a screenshot, the result keeps the shapes, proportions and perspective of your model. Everything runs locally, so models, prompts and images stay on your machine, with no cloud, credits or subscription.

The workflow is short: frame your view in the 3D Viewport, press Generate Draft in the N-panel, and the concept appears in the Image Editor and saves next to your .blend file with the seed in its filename. Two modes are available. Structure uses only your geometry, with materials, mood and lighting coming from the prompt, and is made for gray massing models so the gray viewport does not bleed into the result. Viewport Colors also uses the viewport image as a color and material reference.

Built for architectural workflows, it works with camera view including lens shift and orthographic cameras, and adds Depth Control and Depth Curve sliders. Capture is non-destructive, restoring render settings, compositor and cameras after each generation. It is a concept tool, not a replacement for photorealistic finals in Cycles.

Who is Draftcraft best for?

Draftcraft is best for massing studies, client previews, mood exploration and design iteration in architectural workflows.

How much does Draftcraft cost?

Draftcraft is completely free to download and use.

Key features

  • Local AI concept render on your NVIDIA GPU — models, prompts and images stay on your machine, with no cloud, credits or subscription
  • Depth map computed from your geometry's Z-buffer, keeping the shapes, proportions and perspective of your model
  • Two modes — Structure (geometry only, with materials, mood and lighting from the prompt, made for gray massing models) and Viewport Colors (also uses the viewport image as a color and material reference)
  • Depth Control slider sets how strictly the AI follows your geometry, and a Depth Curve slider adjusts depth-map contrast to keep distant structures from fading out
  • Works with camera view including lens shift (two-point perspective) and orthographic cameras; square render resolution gives a pixel-exact crop
  • Reproducible output — a fixed seed with the same settings produces the same image, and the seed is saved in the filename
  • Non-destructive capture restores render settings, compositor and cameras after every generation

Frequently asked questions

Does Draftcraft work with Blender 4.2 and newer?

Draftcraft supports Blender 4.2 and up, and has been tested on 4.2 LTS and 5.1. Beyond Blender itself, it runs only on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) with an NVIDIA RTX 30 or 40 series GPU carrying 8 GB or more of VRAM; the developer notes testing on RTX 40 while RTX 20 is untested. There is no support for AMD or Intel GPUs, and no macOS or Linux build. If your hardware does not match those specs, the tool will not run for you, so check them before purchase.

Does Draftcraft need an internet connection to generate renders?

Draftcraft runs entirely locally, so generation itself needs no internet. A connection is required once, during the one-time setup that downloads the AI engine (around 2.5 GB) and the models (around 8 GB) into a single folder you choose. After that, the engine runs on 127.0.0.1 only and nothing is sent anywhere — no account, no API key, no telemetry. Uninstalling is a matter of deleting that folder, and Blender's own Python is never touched. Plan for roughly 11 GB of free disk space.

Can Draftcraft results be reproduced exactly?

Draftcraft saves the generation seed directly in the output filename, and a fixed seed with the same settings produces the same image every time. That lets you iterate on the prompt while the composition stays put. Each concept lands in Blender's Image Editor and is also saved next to your .blend file. The capture step is fully non-destructive, restoring your render settings, compositor and cameras after every generation, so working with the add-on leaves your scene as it was before.

Is Draftcraft free?

Draftcraft is listed as free in this catalog; for current licensing terms, check the developer's page. Once set up, it generates locally on your own GPU with no credit system, subscription or monthly fee, and no account or API key is required. Because everything runs on your machine, there is no per-image cost after the initial setup. Documentation is available both online and as an offline text file, and support is handled through Superhive messages.
