Easy Arrows earns its place in the aescripts library for turning path-following arrows into an adjustable, precomp-ready setup driven by effect controls.
Easy Arrows is a script for Adobe After Effects that auto-orients graphics to a path. You can place the built-in arrows or bring in your own custom graphics and compositions, and the script builds the setup using shape layers.
A set of effect controls handles the details. Easy Arrow Completion sets where the arrow sits along the path, while Easy Arrow Length controls the length of the stroke behind the arrow head. You can enable and move the stroke's end point, offset the stroke away from the arrow head, reverse the arrow's direction, and change stroke width and arrow size proportionally. Color for both the stroke and arrow is adjustable as well.
After editing a path, the Update Arrow button refreshes the setup, and a precomp option moves the Easy Arrows layers into a new composition for easy duplication. The script is compatible with After Effects releases from CS5.5 through the 2020 version.
Easy Arrows is best for after Effects users who need to run arrows or custom graphics along a path with control over position, styling and direction.

Easy Arrows lets you update your path after the script has been run. Once you adjust the path, clicking the Update Arrow button refreshes the setup so the arrow follows the new shape. This means you are not locked into your first path and can keep changing the route as your animation develops. The effect controls for position, length, direction and styling remain available after the update as well.
Easy Arrows supports both the built-in arrows and your own custom graphics and compositions along the path. Beyond the shape itself, you can control the styling of the stroke, change the color of the stroke and arrow, and adjust stroke width and arrow size proportionally with a single size control. The layers can also be moved into a new composition using the precomp option, which makes duplicating a finished setup straightforward.
