Edge Bridge Fill earns its place for collapsing the extrude-merge-cleanup routine into one keystroke, with a continuous-fill flow that carries you from one corner to the next.
Edge Bridge Fill is a Blender add-on from KiyohitoMaeda that turns a common mesh-editing chore into a single shortcut. Instead of extruding an edge inward, merging vertices one by one, and cleaning up the geometry, you select two L-shaped edges that meet at a corner and press Ctrl+Shift+F. The quad face is created immediately.
When it fills, the add-on places the missing corner vertex using the parallelogram rule, so the new face sits in alignment. If the corner vertex already exists, it is detected and reused rather than duplicated. After each fill, the next L-shaped edge pair is auto-selected, letting you chain fills by pressing the shortcut again. Full undo support means Ctrl+Z works as expected.
The add-on works in Edit Mode with Edge Select mode active and requires Blender 3.0 or later. Both Ctrl+Shift+F and Cmd+Shift+F are registered, so the shortcut is available on Windows, Linux, and Mac. A demo video is available for a closer look.
Edge Bridge Fill is best for blender modelers who frequently fill recessed quad faces during hard-surface and general mesh work.
Edge Bridge Fill is completely free to download and use.
Edge Bridge Fill requires Blender 3.0 or later, and its listing records compatibility with Blender versions 4.2 through 5.1. It is published as a Blender add-on and marked as Blender Extension compatible. If you are on a recent release in that range, it should load through the standard add-on system. For versions outside the listed range, check the developer's page to confirm support before installing.
Edge Bridge Fill is triggered with Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows, Linux, and Mac. For Mac users, Cmd+Shift+F is also registered, so either combination works. Select two L-shaped edges that meet at a corner and press the shortcut to fill the quad face. After each fill the next edge pair is auto-selected, so you can chain fills by pressing the shortcut again without reselecting edges manually.
Edge Bridge Fill installs like a standard Blender add-on. Download the .zip file, then open Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install, select the .zip, and click Install Add-on. Once installed, enable Edge Bridge Fill in the add-ons list to activate it. From there the Ctrl+Shift+F shortcut becomes available. The tool is registered as a Blender add-on, and its listing marks it as Blender Extension compatible.
Edge Bridge Fill works in Edit Mode with Edge Select mode active. You select two L-shaped edges that meet at a corner, and the add-on creates the missing corner vertex using the parallelogram rule, fills the quad face, and reuses an existing corner vertex if one is already present. Because it operates on edge selections, you need to be in Edge Select mode rather than vertex or face select for the shortcut to behave as described.
Edge Bridge Fill is listed as free in this catalog, so you can add it without a purchase here. Licensing terms can change, so check the developer's page for current details before downloading. According to its listing, the add-on is distributed under the GPL license. A demo video is also available if you would like to see the tool before installing it.
