EDL Importer is an After Effects script by Jordan Steele for bringing edit decision lists into your project. You import EDL files with a simple drag and drop, and the tool automatically searches for and links the source media files referenced in the list.
The script offers three different build modes for After Effects and lets you configure custom composition settings. It maintains precise timecode and edit points, and can add optional handles to your clips. Beyond the cut itself, EDL Importer can import EDL markers and CDL data, giving you more of the information carried in the original list.
Version 1.2.0 added support for DaVinci Resolve marker-only EDLs, coloring markers from color in the EDL, the ability to create layer markers, comp markers or both, and support for importing markers from a Premiere CSV marker list. It is compatible with After Effects 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021.

EDL Importer is compatible with After Effects 2026, and also supports the 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021 versions. This range means the script covers several recent releases, so most users on a current or slightly older After Effects install should be able to run it. If you work across multiple machines or versions, check that each one falls within this supported list before importing your EDLs.
EDL Importer lets you import EDL files with a simple drag and drop. Once the file is loaded, the script automatically searches for and links the source media referenced in the list. It also added support for importing markers from a Premiere CSV marker list, extending how marker information can be brought into After Effects.
