Ez Lumber earns its spot in the Superhive library by handling nominal-to-actual lumber conversions and unit input automatically, so modeling wood pieces comes down to picking a size from a dropdown and setting a length.
Ez Lumber adds standard construction lumber to Blender scenes, generating mesh objects scaled to real-world actual dimensions from industry-standard nominal sizes. It covers 1x2 through 1x12, 2x2 through 2x12, 4x4, 4x6 and 6x6 posts, plus 5/4-inch decking boards, and you set exact lengths in feet from 0.1 up to 20, converted to Blender's internal metric system.
Sizes are picked from a dropdown in a sidebar panel, and dimensions update in real time as you modify pieces. Angle cuts include 45-degree cuts applied in a single click, one-end cuts for joints, both-end cuts for miters, and additional end-angle options. A unit-aware length field accepts entries like 21", 6' 2" and 2m, and an Export Material List CSV generates a lumber list with quantity, size, length, end cut and estimated board feet.
Ez Lumber runs on Blender 3.0 or newer across Windows, Mac and Linux. A nearest-face distance calculation shows the distance between the closest faces of each object, with a toggle to hide it. It suits deck planning, furniture design, construction previsualization, material estimation and educational demonstrations.
Ez Lumber is best for deck planning, furniture design, construction previsualization, client presentations, material estimation, workshop project planning and educational demonstrations in Blender.
Ez Lumber is completely free to download and use.
Ez Lumber lists Blender 3.0 or newer as its requirement, so it runs on current Blender releases as well as that baseline version. The add-on supports Windows, Mac and Linux, giving cross-platform coverage. If you are running an older Blender than 3.0, you would need to update before installing. For the exact behaviour on the newest Blender versions, check the developer's page, since compatibility details there reflect the latest updates.
Ez Lumber installs through Blender's standard add-on flow: open Blender, go to Edit then Preferences and the Add-ons section, click Install, and select the ez_lumber zip file. Enable the add-on by checking its box in the list. Once enabled, its controls appear in a sidebar panel where you select a lumber size and set a length. The process follows the same steps as most Blender add-ons, so no external dependencies or separate installers are described.
Ez Lumber covers standard nominal lumber generated at real-world actual dimensions, including 1x2 through 1x12, 2x2 through 2x12, and 4x4, 4x6 and 6x6 posts for larger structural pieces. A decking update added 5/4-inch boards in 5/4x4, 5/4x6 and 5/4x8, with actual thicknesses of one inch. You pick the size from a dropdown in the sidebar panel and set an exact length in feet, up to 20 feet, which converts to Blender's internal metric system.
Ez Lumber includes an Export Material List CSV feature that generates a lumber list from the current model. The export includes quantity, size, length, end cut and estimated board feet for each piece. It uses the default filename ez_lumber_material_list.csv, or a name based on the saved project file. This gives you a spreadsheet-ready breakdown that pairs with the material estimation and project planning use cases the add-on targets.
Ez Lumber is listed as free in this catalog. For current licensing terms, any usage conditions, and the most up-to-date details, check the developer's page from BrightBird Studio. Pricing and distribution can change over time, so the developer's listing is the reliable source before you download. The add-on installs as a standard Blender zip through the preferences panel once you have it.
