Fit Instancing earns its spot in the Superhive library for tying generated duplicates back to a single editable source object through instances.
Fit Instancing generates instances of an object across selected quads or groups of quads that form a rectangle. The objects automatically scale and deform to fit each selection, and a lattice is generated to deform the objects based on that selection. You can also create objects based on the active material index.
Because duplicates are created as instances, you can adjust the height, rotation, or make other changes to the duplicated objects by editing the source object. This keeps every generated copy tied back to the original for editing.
Built for Blender by The 3D Advantage, the add-on works across Blender versions 2.9 through 3.2 and is distributed under a Creative Commons license. Documentation is provided, and a demo video is available for those who want to see more before installing.
Fit Instancing is best for blender users placing scaled, deforming instances across quad-based selections such as architectural surfaces.
Fit Instancing is completely free to download and use.
Fit Instancing supports Blender versions 2.9, 2.91, 2.92, 2.93, 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2, according to The 3D Advantage. If you are working in one of these releases, the add-on is listed as compatible. For newer Blender versions beyond 3.2, check the developer's page for updated compatibility information, since versions outside this range are not listed among the supported releases here.
Fit Instancing creates duplicates as instances, which means they stay linked to the source object. You can adjust the height, rotation, or make any other changes to the duplicated objects by editing the source object directly. This gives you a single point of control over every generated instance, so changes to the original propagate to the copies created across your selection.
Fit Instancing creates instances based on selected quads or groups of quads that form a rectangle. The objects automatically scale and deform to fit those selections, and a lattice is generated to deform the objects according to your selection. You can also create objects based on the active material index, giving you another way to define where instances are generated across your mesh.
Fit Instancing is listed as free in this catalog and is distributed under a Creative Commons license. Licensing terms can change over time, so for the most current details on usage rights and any conditions attached to the Creative Commons license, refer to The 3D Advantage's developer page. Documentation is also provided alongside the add-on to help you get started.
