Earns its place in the Superhive library for combining base-mesh generation with layered noise and object-based deformation in one Blender menu.
Floating Island Generator by EBTRR builds a mesh with a base form inside Blender and gives you a set of functions to edit it. You can usually start by pressing the "Create Floating Island" button, though you can also set your preferred noise types from the beginning and change them at any time later.
The add-on offers different base meshes, a mixture of texture and noise layers, and separate height values for varied effects. You can select and reselect the floating island mesh, set a mover object in X and Y instead of choosing it manually each time, and apply deformation through other objects, which is specialised for those objects. Textures can be changed afterwards along with their influence settings.
Modifier effects and smoothing settings are adjustable directly, and two basic materials are included, one of which is a glow material used for the logo. The menu is based on the developer's Landscape add-on menu. A demo video and documentation are available, and questions, feature requests and bug reports can be sent through the developer's Discord or contact form.
Floating Island Generator is best for blender artists building floating island meshes with procedural noise, height and deformer controls.
Floating Island Generator is completely free to download and use.
Floating Island Generator lists compatibility with Blender 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4. If you run a version within that range, the add-on is intended to work with your setup. For any newer release, check the developer's page for current compatibility details. The developer also invites questions through the Discord channels or the Blender Market contact form, which is the best route to confirm whether your specific Blender build is covered before you rely on it in a project.
Floating Island Generator lets you usually start by pressing the "Create Floating Island" button, which generates the mesh. You can also set your favourite noise types from the beginning, and you are free to change them at any time later. From there, the menu covers generating the base mesh, height and structure parameters, base height texture settings, sub-height settings, and the mover, deformer object list and settings, along with an apply modifier operator.
Floating Island Generator is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing and any pricing can change over time, so check the developer's page for the current terms before you download. The add-on is distributed under the GPL license. For questions about the license or the product itself, the developer accepts messages through the Discord channels or the Blender Market contact form.
Floating Island Generator supports deformer objects, and you can use any mesh object you like. Reduction and deformation through other objects is specialised for those objects. For effects and variations, you can also set a mover object in X and Y instead of selecting it manually each time. Combined with different height values and changeable textures, these controls let you vary how the island mesh is shaped after it is generated.
