Reproducible results are a notable trait here: the same seed with the same selection produces an identical placement, while changing the seed generates variations.
Hair Cards To Curves is a collection of Blender tools for placing hair cards on hair guides. Its Fibermesh Converter turns a Fibermesh object exported from ZBrush into individual curve objects that can serve as hair guides in Blender. A Sort Hair by Length tool distributes selected hair cards and guides into 2-10 collections based on their length, appending each collection's length range to its name.
The Place Cards on Guides tool uses a user-chosen randomization seed to pick variations of hair cards sorted by length, placing linked duplicates on guides with matching lengths and scaling each card to match its guide. The same seed with the same selection produces an identical result, while changing the seed creates variations.
Global Hair Card Modifiers adjust the placement and scale of all placed cards simultaneously, applied live for interactive editing. Individual Hair Card Modifiers adjust placement and scale per card, include an option to edit the assigned hair guide's properties, and let you edit each curve point — useful for fine adjustments such as rotating a card along the curve by changing the tilt value. Proportional editing is enabled by default.
Hair Cards To Curves is best for blender artists building hair card grooms from hair guides, including workflows involving ZBrush Fibermesh exports.
Hair Cards To Curves is completely free to download and use.
Hair Cards To Curves was developed for Blender 4.5 LTS and has been tested and confirmed to work with Blender 3.0.0, with the developer assuming compatibility across every version in between. The listing shows a Blender version range of 3.0 to 4.5 and marks it as a Blender Extension. It is distributed as an add-on and notes Cycles and Eevee as the render engines used, so most current Blender setups should be covered.
In Hair Cards To Curves, the Place Cards on Guides tool uses a randomization seed chosen by you to randomly pick variations of hair cards sorted by length, then places linked duplicates of those cards on hair guides with matching lengths. Each card is scaled to exactly match the length of its assigned guide. Using the same seed with the same object selection produces an identical result, while changing the seed value lets you create variations of the placement.
Hair Cards To Curves includes a Fibermesh Converter that converts a Fibermesh object exported from ZBrush into individual curve objects. Those curve objects can then be used as hair guides inside Blender, feeding into the other tools in the collection such as sorting by length and placing cards on guides. This gives a route from a ZBrush Fibermesh export toward a Blender hair card setup within the same add-on workflow.
Hair Cards To Curves is listed as free in this catalog. The add-on is distributed under the GPL license. For current licensing terms and any purchase or download details, check the developer's page directly, as those specifics can change over time. Documentation is listed alongside the add-on, and a demo video is available for a closer look at the tools before you commit.
