Why we like it

Kit Ops 2 Pro ranks 28 in the Superhive library, but this edition is now deprecated and unsupported — the developer directs users to Kit Ops 3 Pro. Worth knowing before considering this version.

What is Kit Ops 2 Pro: (Deprecated)?

Kit Ops 2 Pro is a kitbashing add-on for Blender from Chipp Walters that lets you create, store and apply your own INSERTS, including materials. PRO INSERTS carry built-in Boolean union and difference modifiers that can be linked with the target object and/or the INSERT itself, so an INSERT can cut holes in other objects. The tool ranks 28 in the Superhive library and reports over 25,000 downloads.

Compared with KIT OPS FREE, PRO adds snapping features, wire object types for positioning and creating location points, a favorite menu for KPACK shortcuts, and Factory mode for editing INSERTS and creating thumbnails with custom settings. It's required for creating INSERTS for KIT OPS SYNTH, works with KIT OPS BATCH and KIT OPS PARALLAX, and can create and edit materials. Successive editions added advanced search across KPACKS and INSERTS, asset-browser import, eroded Decal INSERTS, INSERT arraying and Hardpoints for assemblies.

This version is deprecated and no longer supported. The developer states it will not work past Blender 3.5 and points users to the newer Kit Ops 3 Pro. A demo video is available.

Kit Ops 2 Pro: (Deprecated) is best for blender artists managing kitbashing libraries who need to create, store and apply custom INSERTS with Boolean cutting and materials.

How much does Kit Ops 2 Pro: (Deprecated) cost?

Frequently asked questions

Does Kit Ops 2 Pro work with the latest Blender versions?

Kit Ops 2 Pro lists compatibility with Blender 2.83 and up, but the developer has deprecated this version and states it will not work past Blender 3.5 and is no longer supported. For newer Blender releases the developer points to Kit Ops 3 Pro instead. If you're on an older Blender version within its supported range you can still run it, but there won't be further support or updates for this edition.

What's the difference between Kit Ops 2 Pro and KIT OPS FREE?

Kit Ops 2 Pro adds several capabilities the FREE version lacks. PRO has snapping features, useful when creating objects, and can create INSERTS with built-in Boolean union and difference modifiers that cut holes in other objects. PRO supports wire object types, a favorite menu for KPACK shortcuts, and Factory mode for editing INSERTS and thumbnails. It's also required for creating INSERTS for KIT OPS SYNTH, and it works with KIT OPS BATCH and KIT OPS PARALLAX. FREE cannot do these.

Is Kit Ops 2 Pro free?

Kit Ops 2 Pro is listed as free in this catalog, so no price is shown here. For current licensing, and because this version is deprecated and no longer supported, check the developer's page — the developer directs users to the newer Kit Ops 3 Pro. This deprecated edition lists Blender 2.83 and up but will not work past Blender 3.5, so review the developer's current offering before relying on it for newer Blender releases.

What did the Sherlock Edition add to Kit Ops 2 Pro?

Kit Ops 2 Pro's Sherlock Edition (2.26.4) adds advanced search capabilities, letting you search through your entire collections of KIT OPS KPACKS and INSERTS even when they aren't currently loaded. Earlier editions brought other additions: the Ryan Edition adds importing existing asset browser content into KIT OPS, the Cedar Creek Edition adds eroded Decal INSERTS and INSERT arraying, and the Hardpoints Edition adds creating cutter INSERTS from the scene plus the Hardpoints feature for assemblies.
