Why we like it

Lazy KeySet earns its place in the superhive library for combining stepping, key editing, and two-point animation in one add-on, covering Blender 2.8 through 3.5 under the GPL license.

What is Lazy Keyset?

Lazy KeySet gives Blender animators a set of tools for building simple, motion graphics-style movement with a few clicks. Its Stepping function moves the selected keyframe in steps, and Use Selection Order adds an object name list so steps can be created in the order you want. Blender has no selection order, which this addresses.

Sync Key Tools handles key editing without going through keyframe selection on the dope sheet, working on the current frame or a specified range. Editing a bone with the same name as a shape key lets you edit shape keys indirectly, and the Create bones with shape key names function builds those matching bones all at once. By default a rotation Z value of 0 to 90° maps to a shape key value of 0.0 to 1.0. The panel appears in Pose mode under the N-panel, with an Alt + Shift + D pop-up.

Set a Keyframe Between 2 Points inserts keyframes with animated position, rotation, and scale. You can set the animation interval, delay, keyframe interpolation, and easing, including a Special Ease In/Out option that corrects the F-curve handle for a strong ease. It supports Blender 2.8 through 3.5 under the GPL license.

Frequently asked questions

What Blender versions does Lazy KeySet support?

Lazy KeySet supports Blender versions 2.8, 2.81, 2.82, 2.83, 2.9, 2.91, 2.92, 2.93, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, and 3.5. If you run one of these versions, the add-on's stepping, Sync Key Tools, and two-point animation functions should be available to you. For versions newer than 3.5, check the developer's page to confirm current compatibility before installing, since the listed range stops at 3.5.

Is Lazy KeySet free to use?

Lazy KeySet is listed as free in this catalog and is released under the GPL license. Licensing terms can change over time, so check the developer's page for the current details before you download or use it. The GPL license covers how the add-on's code may be used, modified, and shared. It comes from Bookyakuno, who publishes it alongside other Blender tools.

How do I open the Sync Key Tools panel in Lazy KeySet?

Lazy KeySet places its Sync Key Tools panel in the 3D View under Pose mode, in the side menu opened with the N key. The panel menu is displayed only in pause mode. You can also reach the tools through a pop-up menu with the Alt + Shift + D shortcut. From there you can edit keys on the current frame or a specified range without selecting keyframes on the dope sheet.

How does Lazy KeySet edit shape keys through bones?

Lazy KeySet edits shape keys indirectly through bones that share the shape key's name. The Create bones with shape key names function builds those matching bones all at once, and by default a rotation Z value of 0 to 90° is read as a shape key value of 0.0 to 1.0. The Insert Key function inserts keyframes into shape keys with the same name while keying various transforms of the bones, and key move, copy, and delete functions apply to the matching shape key in the same way.
