LS - Pro Auto LOD Generator earns its place for bundling LOD generation, rig-safe decimation, and game-engine export into a single Blender add-on.
LS - Pro Auto LOD Generator automates Level of Detail creation in Blender. It supports eight levels, LOD0 through LOD7, with each level toggled on or off and a real-time triangle count estimate. Two reduction modes are available: Ratio Mode reduces meshes by percentage, and Target Mode sets specific polygon counts. Three decimation styles cover different needs — Balanced, Aggressive (Crunch), and Quality (Protect).
The add-on carries rigging, vertex group weights, and UV mapping through the decimation process. Single Armature Mode stacks all LODs at the origin under a shared armature, and mobile optimization can limit bone influences per vertex to four. Mesh protection options include a vertex group mask to shield specific vertices, UV seam preservation, and X/Y/Z symmetry, while quality controls cover custom normals, auto-triangulation, and shape key awareness.
Export supports FBX and GLB, either combined into a single file or split into separate files per LOD level, with naming conventions for Unreal Engine and Unity and GLB output for Godot and web. A preview system switches between LOD levels in the viewport, and generated LODs are organized into a collection hierarchy.
Ls - Pro Auto Lod Generator is best for game character artists, environment asset creators, VR/AR developers, mobile game studios, indie developers, and 3D asset marketplace sellers.
Ls - Pro Auto Lod Generator is completely free to download and use.
LS - Pro Auto LOD Generator includes engine-specific export handling. For Unreal Engine it applies _LOD0 and _LOD1 style naming, a combined FBX export that Unreal auto-detects, and correct axis and scale configuration. For Unity it uses Unity-standard LOD naming, separate or combined FBX export, and an optimized bone hierarchy. For Godot and web targets it exports GLB with full animation and skin support. You can pick FBX or GLB and choose to export all LODs in a single file or as separate files per level.
LS - Pro Auto LOD Generator preserves rigging, vertex group weights, and UV mapping through the decimation process, so weights maintain their integrity as meshes are reduced. Single Armature Mode stacks all LOD levels at the origin under one shared armature, which suits game engines that handle LOD switching automatically. For mobile platforms you can limit bone influences per vertex to four. A vertex group mask also lets you paint weight 1.0 to protect specific vertices from being decimated.
LS - Pro Auto LOD Generator works from a sidebar panel labeled LS - Pro LOD Tool. Select your rigged character mesh, open the panel, configure the LOD levels and reduction ratios you want, then click Generate LODs. When you're ready, use Export LODs to save game-ready files. Generated LODs are organized into a collection hierarchy, and you can hide the original mesh, preview and switch between levels in the viewport with previous and next navigation, and run a one-click cleanup.
LS - Pro Auto LOD Generator offers two reduction modes. Ratio Mode reduces by percentage, such as 50%, 25%, or 10%, while Target Mode lets you set specific polygon counts like 5000, 2500, or 1000. Three decimation styles shape the output: Balanced for a standard quality-to-performance ratio, Aggressive (Crunch) for maximum reduction aimed at mobile and VR, and Quality (Protect) for higher fidelity that preserves detail. You can toggle each of the eight LOD levels and read a real-time triangle count estimate as you adjust settings.
LS - Pro Auto LOD Generator is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing terms can change over time, so check the developer's page on superhive for the current details before you download. The add-on is published by Ludiax Studio for Blender and comes with documentation. A demo video is also available if you want to see more before installing it into your own project.
