Magic Vertex Painter ships as a .zip addon with 10 preset asset models included, and the developer notes further asset models are planned for future updates.
Magic Vertex Painter brings an artistic, brush-based approach to scene building in Blender. Instead of placing assets individually, you paint them onto your models using three brush modes—Draw, Eraser, and Blur—to add, remove, or smooth transition areas. The system supports up to 10 independent asset channels (C0-C9), letting you paint and manage ten different asset types on a single object.
Procedural and masking controls let you adjust Density, Seed, Min/Max Scale, and Rotation per channel in real-time. A Vertical Growth slider controls whether assets align to the ground's normal or stay vertical. A global ground mask lets you carve paths and clearings using an image's black and white values, while each channel supports its own template mask for layered control. You can assign custom images from your computer via texture icons in the UI.
A procedural ground shader offers Noise, Voronoi, Wave, and Brick texture types customizable through an interactive Color Ramp. The unique Plant Shadow feature blends color onto the ground beneath assets. A Wind icon on any channel adds procedural wind animation with independent dual-speed sliders, viewable by playing the timeline.
Magic Vertex Painter is best for game developers, environment artists, architectural visualization artists, and motion and VFX artists building natural environments in Blender.
Magic Vertex Painter is completely free to download and use.
Magic Vertex Painter supports up to 10 independent asset channels, labeled C0 through C9, on a single object. This lets you paint and manage ten different asset types at once to build layered ecosystems. Each channel can carry its own template mask, so you might paint a large grass area and then assign a noise texture mask to a flower channel so flowers appear only in random clumps within the grass. Density, Seed, Min/Max Scale, and Rotation are adjustable per channel in real-time.
Magic Vertex Painter adds procedural wind animation through a Wind icon on any asset channel. Clicking it applies motion so grass and flowers move with the effect. Each asset type has independent dual-speed sliders, giving you control over the dynamics per channel. To view the animation, you play the timeline. This is built into the channel system rather than requiring a separate setup, and it works alongside the painting and procedural controls the addon provides.
Magic Vertex Painter is distributed as a .zip addon file and includes 10 preset asset models bundled with it. The developer states that further asset models will be added in future updates. You can get started using a built-in template through the New Object option, or apply the system to an existing model with the Paint Object option. Custom image masks can also be assigned from your own computer through texture icons in the interface.
Magic Vertex Painter is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing terms can change, so check the developer's page on Superhive for the current details before you download. The package includes the addon as a .zip file along with 10 preset asset models, and the developer notes that additional asset models are planned for future updates. A demo video is also available if you want to see the addon before installing it.
