Object-Bound Camera Clipping is a 3ds Max script from rode3d that adds extra controls to a selected camera for driving its clipping planes using objects in the scene. Rather than setting clipping distances by hand, you pick one object to control the near clipping plane and another to control the far plane, with an optional offset from each picked object.
When the picked object has a surface, the script automatically places the near clipping plane on the face closest to the camera. If you pick an object with no surface, such as a helper, it uses the object's pivot to calculate the clipping distance. The tool currently works with the Physical Camera and the VRay Physical Camera.
Because the script writes custom attributes onto the camera, the setup stays with the camera itself. You can reuse that camera in other projects or across 3ds Max versions without needing the script installed. It is compatible with 3ds Max 2015 and later, and the current release is version 1.0.
