ProtoTech's 3DPDF Exporter for 3ds Max converts solid and wire bodies into lightweight, interactive 3D PDF files that open in the free Adobe Reader. The exported geometry retains color information at the face level, and precision values let you adjust the balance between file size and quality.
Beyond geometry export, the plugin adds password protection so you can set access restrictions on a 3D PDF, and built-in default compression reduces file size for sharing. An optional automation license lets you call a function from your own plugin on the same host application and export a file without user intervention, using standard input parameters.
The first install activates a free trial that runs for 7 days or 15 exports, with access to the full feature set and no activation key required during that window. The plugin runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 only and uses a custom installer rather than the standard App Store installer. The license is perpetual, and updates during the first year are free.
