RailClone Lite earns its place by bringing the version 7 spline operators, Point-Cloud optimization and Style Editor updates to users on the Lite tier, while the RailClone Systems preset library stays exclusive to Pro.
RailClone Lite is a parametric modeling and assembly tool for 3ds Max. It lets you build structures by creating visual rules, and includes a library for creating parametric assets. The rule-based workflow covers everything from detailed architectural components to larger scenes.
RailClone 7 Lite introduces new spline tools and workflow improvements for procedural modeling. New Spline Operators handle transforming, combining, offsetting, catenaries, connecting and boolean operations on splines, all directly in the graph editor so they can be edited at any time. Viewport performance benefits from an optimized Point-Cloud mode, and the Style Editor gains persistent panel widths, macros with multiple outputs, and RailClone icons that persist in the scene. A new Y Corner input places horizontal rows into 2D arrays, and Transform nodes can select sections from a segment prepared with RailClone Slice.
The RailClone Systems preset library is exclusive to the Pro version, but Lite users gain access to every other core upgrade in the release.
RailClone Lite is best for 3ds Max artists building parametric assets from visual rules, across tasks from small scale interiors and facades to buildings and civil engineering projects.
RailClone Lite is completely free to download and use.
RailClone 7 Lite introduces new spline tools and workflow improvements for procedural modeling in 3ds Max. The headline additions are new Spline Operators for transforming, combining, offsetting, catenaries, connecting and applying boolean operations to splines, all within the graph editor. Viewport performance gains from an optimized Point-Cloud mode, and the Style Editor picks up persistent panel widths, macros with multiple outputs, and RailClone icons that persist in the scene. There's also a new Y Corner input for placing horizontal rows into 2D arrays, plus Transform nodes for selecting sections from a segment prepared with RailClone Slice.
RailClone Lite shares the version 7 core upgrades with the Pro version, including the new Spline Operators, the optimized Point-Cloud mode and the Style Editor improvements. The main distinction is the RailClone Systems feature, a library of highly adaptable presets, which is exclusive to the Pro version. Lite users still gain access to every other core upgrade in the release. For full details on what each edition includes, check the developer's page.
RailClone Lite keeps its new Spline Operators directly in the graph editor, so they can be edited at any time. These operators cover transforming, combining, offsetting, catenaries, connecting and boolean operations on splines. Because the rules live in the graph, the parametric structures you build from them can be adjusted rather than rebuilt manually. This visual rule-based workflow is central to how RailClone assembles parametric assets in 3ds Max.
RailClone Lite is listed as free in this catalog. The tool also includes a free library to start with, alongside the option to create your own custom assets. Licensing terms can change over time, so for current details on the Lite and Pro editions and what each one offers, check the developer's page. The version listed here is 7.0.8, last updated on 2025-06-10.
