RandoMixer is a 3ds Max plugin for automatically generating multiple variants of a scene, model or character, storing them in a collection or sequence of states. You can navigate and visualize those states directly in the 3ds Max viewport at the click of a button. Alongside variant generation, it randomizes transforms and materials, swaps objects around, scatters them, creates combinations between different sets of elements, and automatically switches active lights and cameras.
To use it, you provide one or more sets of objects, choose the operations to perform, adjust the settings, and optionally set the combination type and number of variants. Pressing 'Create Collection' generates the number of variants you requested, which you can then step through with two arrow keys. Collections can be rendered as a sequence of images with the built-in function or exported to the 3ds Max timeline as an animation.
Applications include brainstorming scene staging, producing versions to choose from, building an NFT collection of randomly generated characters, creating product catalogs, and generating states as a starting point for animation. An exclusive algorithm auto-populates furniture such as tables, desks and shelves with small elements, with no collisions.
