Earns its place for granular control over how instances are placed, rotated, and scaled across a mesh, backed by broad Blender version support from 2.8 through 4.2.
Scatter Pro 2 is a Blender addon for distributing instances across a mesh. You can apply the scatter to vertices, edges, or faces, and target either the whole object or a subset of its vertices. For each instance it can randomize rotation and scaling on any axis, while maintaining the normal angle or applying automatic normal rotation.
Placement is controlled through density settings, a minimum distance between objects, and coordinate filtering on the X, Y, or Z axes. You can apply a fixed delta per axis, a ray factor along the normal vector, and separate or final scaling factors across the axes. Cleanup options let you clean the target object before operating and avoid duplicated objects at the same location, and transformations can be repeated at any time.
The addon supports Blender versions from 2.8 through 4.2 and is distributed under the GPL license. An automatic parent mode assigns a parent to each new object, and scattering objects can be stored for later use. Documentation and a demo video are available. It suits building realistic landscapes, complex objects by agglomeration, and explosions.
Scatter Pro 2 is best for blender artists building realistic landscapes, complex objects by agglomeration, or explosions through scattered instances.
Scatter Pro 2 is completely free to download and use.
Scatter Pro 2 supports a wide span of Blender releases, from 2.8 up through 4.2. That includes 2.81, 2.82, 2.83, 2.9, 2.91, 2.92, 2.93, then 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, and finally 4.0, 4.1, and 4.2. That range covers both legacy projects on older builds and current pipelines, so you can bring the addon into an existing scene. For the latest compatibility details, check the developer's page before installing.
Scatter Pro 2 can apply scattering to vertices, edges, or faces of a target mesh, and you can work with the total object or a subset of its vertices. For each instance it can randomize rotation and scaling on any axis, maintain the normal angle, and hold a minimum distance between objects. Density is adjustable, and coordinate filtering on X, Y, or Z gives you further control over where instances end up. You can also apply a ray factor along the normal vector.
Scatter Pro 2 is listed as free in this catalog. Pricing and licensing terms can change over time, so if you need the current details it is best to confirm on the developer's page before downloading. The addon is distributed under the GPL license, which sets out how the code itself may be used, shared, and modified. For the specifics of what that permits in your case, and for anything beyond what is listed here, the developer's page is the authoritative source.
Scatter Pro 2 is described as easy to install and use, and it ships with documentation to help you get going, plus a demo video is available. Once you are set up, you can clean the target object before operating and avoid duplicated objects at the same location. Transformations can be repeated at any time, an automatic parent mode assigns a parent to each new object, and scattering objects can be stored for reuse in later sessions.
