Simple Object Cutter earns its place in the superhive library for its flexible controls — cut by segment count or by target width, with an accuracy setting for handling more complex geometry. Keep in mind the operation is CPU-intensive and may freeze the screen during processing.
Simple Object Cutter is a Blender add-on from 5 Minutes Blender that quickly cuts any mesh object into multiple smaller pieces. You control the result in two ways: enter the number of segments you want along the X, Y, and Z axes, using 1 for any dimension you don't want cut, or enter a segment width and let the add-on auto-calculate the cuts so each piece ends up with almost the same width, depth, and height.
A five-level accuracy setting (0 to 4) handles more delicate geometry — higher levels aim for cleaner results but increase processing time heavily. The Use Local Axis option cuts along the object's local XYZ axes and ignores its rotation, or you can disable it to slice along the global axes. The Add New Material option applies a customizable Slice Material to the inside faces, while the Console Report option prints live progress to the system console.
The add-on uses a great amount of CPU power, so the screen may freeze during heavier operations; trying a smaller number of cuts first helps estimate the processing time. Documentation is included, a demo video is available, and the product comes with a 30 day money-back guarantee.
Simple Object Cutter is best for blender users who need to slice mesh objects into multiple pieces with control over cut counts, segment width, accuracy, and axis system.
Simple Object Cutter is completely free to download and use.
Simple Object Cutter gives two ways to control the result. You can enter the number of segments you want along the X, Y, and Z axes, using 1 for any dimension you don't want cut. Alternatively, you can enter a segment width, and the add-on auto-calculates the number of segments in each dimension so that each piece has almost the same width, depth, and height. If you want to set segment counts manually, keep the segment width at zero, since a non-zero width overrides the entered counts.
Simple Object Cutter uses a great amount of CPU power, so the screen may freeze for some time depending on the complexity of the geometry and the number of cuts. This is expected, and you should wait patiently until the operation completes. The developer suggests trying a smaller number of cuts first to estimate the processing time before running a larger job. If you enable the Console Report option, open the system console from the Window menu > Toggle System Console beforehand so you can watch the live progress.
Simple Object Cutter offers five accuracy levels, numbered 0 to 4, for the cut operation. Raising the level is expected to produce a more perfect result, but the processing time also increases heavily. For simpler objects, the default level of 1, or even 0, may be enough. If you run into an artifact or error in the final result, increasing the accuracy level is the suggested way to fix the issue. Choosing the right level is a trade-off between output quality and how long the cut takes to run.
Simple Object Cutter can handle the inside faces created by a cut in two ways. With the Add New Material option enabled, it adds a new material called Slice Material to those inside faces, which you can later find and customize on any of the resulting pieces. With the option disabled, the target object's default material is automatically applied to the inside faces instead. This gives you the choice between a distinct material on the cut surfaces or reusing the object's existing material.
Simple Object Cutter is listed as free in this catalog. For current licensing details, check the developer's page. The add-on also comes with a 30 day money-back guarantee: if the product does not work as described, you can contact the developer with the details, and if the issue cannot be solved to your satisfaction, a full refund is offered. Support and bug reporting are handled by email or through the developer's YouTube channel, so help is available if something goes wrong.
