SnapSplit stands out in the Superhive library for pairing planar splitting with connector generation and material-specific tolerance presets in one Blender panel.
SnapSplit is an add-on for Blender that handles cut, split and slice workflows alongside connection building for 3D printing. It generates precise, glue-free snap-fit connectors using robust booleans and material-sensible adaptive tolerance models. The tools live in a dedicated panel accessed through the 3D View N-Panel under "SnapSplit".
The panel groups properties for the number of parts, connector types (Cylindrical Pin, Rectangular Tenon, Snap-Pin and Snap-Tenon), a material or printer profile covering PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU and SLA, and derived per-side tolerances. Operators include a planar split along a global axis into a specified number of parts, a split preview and adjustment step, a decap and cap seams option, a percentage-based edge margin for connector placement, and face-to-face alignment in Object mode.
Connectors can be placed as seam lines, grids or individual connectors on the cut face with row and column inputs, and Snap Tenon/Pin settings let you manually adjust friction. Tolerance profiles are supplied as adjustable presets per material and can be overridden. Version 0.1.3 adds automatic collections cleanup and a new face alignment function.
Snapsplit is best for blender users preparing models for 3D printing who need glue-free snap-fit connectors and automated cut, split and slice workflows.
Snapsplit is completely free to download and use.
SnapSplit lists compatibility with Blender 4.5 through 5.1 and is marked Blender Extension compatible. The developer notes using it on Blender 5.1.1, 5.1.0, 5.0.1, 4.5.9 LTS and 4.5.3 LTS. If you run a different version, the developer invites feedback through the contact details on their page. Tools are reached from the 3D View N-Panel under the "SnapSplit" tab once the add-on is enabled.
SnapSplit ships material and printer profiles for PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU and SLA. Each has guideline per-side tolerance ranges: PLA 0.15–0.25 mm, PETG 0.25–0.35 mm, ABS/ASA 0.20–0.30 mm, TPU 0.30–0.45 mm and SLA 0.05–0.15 mm. These are supplied as presets and can be overridden by the user, with connector tolerances derived per side to suit the chosen material profile.
SnapSplit generates glue-free snap-fit connectors in several types, including Cylindrical Pin, Rectangular Tenon, Snap-Pin and Snap-Tenon. You can place them as seam line connectors, grid connectors, or individual connectors on the cut face with row and column inputs. Snap Tenon/Pin adjustments let you manually tune friction, and insertion depth is adjustable with a default of 50%. A percentage-based edge margin controls where connectors sit on the cut face.
SnapSplit is listed as free here in the catalog. It is distributed under the GPL license and is marked as a Dev Fund contributor on its listing. For the current licensing terms and any purchase details, check the developer's page directly. You can also reach Betakontext through the contact email and website provided on the listing if you have questions before installing the add-on.
