Earns its place for a focused job: fitting a subdivision surface to reference data while showing where the mesh deviates through a colour-coded map.
Super Shrinkwrap Addon by Digital Sculptors is a Blender add-on that fits a subdivision limit surface to reference mesh data. Once installed, it adds a new side panel called Super Shrinkwrap.
The panel shows the active object and a reference object field, which you can pick using an eye dropper. Subd level sets the number of subdivisions, defaulting to 2 and adjustable from 1 to 6. An iterations field controls how many passes run to get close to the required tolerance, defaulting to 3 and adjustable from 1 to 10. Tolerance for the deviation map is set in millimeters and defaults to 2 mm, with a separate row displaying the tolerance achieved. The Fit Subdiv button fits the selected mesh with a subdivision modifier, adding one if none is applied.
A deviation map shows red for positive deviation, blue for negative and green for areas within tolerance, while the Reset Map button deletes the map and resets deviation. It is compatible with Blender versions from 3.2 through 4.3 on Windows, Linux and macOS, under the GPL license.
Super Shrinkwrap Addon is best for blender users fitting a subdivision limit surface to reference mesh data with a millimeter tolerance and a visual deviation map.
Super Shrinkwrap Addon is completely free to download and use.
Super Shrinkwrap Addon lists compatibility with Blender 4.3, along with 4.2, 4.1, 4.0, 3.6, 3.5, 3.4, 3.3 and 3.2. The developer also states it requires a Blender version above 3.2 and marks it Blender Extension compatible. It runs on Windows, Linux and macOS. If you are on a newer or older build than those listed, check the developer's page for current compatibility details before installing.
Super Shrinkwrap Addon comes as a zip file that you should not unzip. Open Blender, go to Preferences, then the add-on section, click Install and point to the zip file, then click the check mark to enable it. Once enabled, a new side panel called Super Shrinkwrap appears, where you select an active object and a reference object and run the fit.
Super Shrinkwrap Addon is released under the GPL license. In this catalog it is listed as free, so there is no price figure to quote here; for current licensing and any purchase terms, check the developer's page. The developer also lists it as an Add-on extension type and marks it Blender Extension compatible. Between the license and the free listing, you can install and try it, though checking the developer's page keeps you current on any terms that may have changed.
Super Shrinkwrap Addon displays a deviation map after you run Fit Subdiv, using red for positive deviation, blue for negative deviation and green for areas within tolerance. Tolerance is set in millimeters, defaulting to 2 mm, and a separate row shows the tolerance achieved. The iterations field, default 3 and adjustable from 1 to 10, controls how many passes run toward that tolerance. When you want to clear the results, the Reset Map button deletes the deviation map and resets deviation.
