Timeline Audio Visualizer draws audio waveform overlays directly over Blender's animation timeline editors, with the overlay available in the Dope Sheet, Graph Editor, and NLA Editor. It helps animators time actions, lip sync, beats, impacts, cuts, and scene accents without constantly switching to the Video Sequencer or an external audio editor. Waveforms can be sourced from Video Sequencer sound strips or from Speaker objects.
The add-on offers multiple waveform display modes — Peaks/Bars, Solid, Mirror, Outline, RMS Envelope, Peak + RMS, and Positive Fill — along with adjustable waveform height, adjustable detail level, and a custom color set in the extension preferences. A vertical anchor option positions the waveform at center, bottom, top, or a custom point, sequencer source filters limit display to audible strips, selected strips, or sound in list, and an optional scene range clamp is available.
Controls open from the sidebar Sound tab or from a header popover reached via the compact TAV button. Audio is decoded through Blender's AUD with a basic WAV fallback, so most common WAV files and many MP3 files should work. Waveform data is cached for faster redraws.

Timeline Audio Visualizer is compatible with Blender 4.2 LTS and newer, so current 4.x releases are covered. The overlay runs inside three animation editors — the Dope Sheet, Graph Editor, and NLA Editor — and you open its controls from the sidebar Sound tab after pressing N, or from a header popover via the compact TAV button in the Dope Sheet / Timeline header. From there you can turn the visualizer on or refresh it as needed while you work on timing.

Installation follows the standard extension flow: drag and drop the add-on into Blender, or download and install it from disk.
Timeline Audio Visualizer is listed as free here and distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. It reads the local audio files used by your current Blender project to generate waveform data, and it does not upload audio, project files, or user data. Note that the tool is intended for short animation and audio timing ranges; very long full-track sessions may be slower or use more memory depending on detail settings.
