Stands out in the superhive library for turning model lighting into a preset-and-tweak workflow, with light groups placed around the object and mesh lights for volumetric scifi looks.
Vera Light Studio is a Blender add-on that lights a model from lighting presets. Its light groups include rim lights for the back of the model, top lights such as Top, Right Top, Left Top, Front Top and Back Top, and side lights including Left, Right, Front Left and Front Right. The Vera Lights position themselves from the middle of the viewport, so placing your model in the middle of the grid lets them light it, and you can edit, move and rotate each one.
Beyond the presets, Vera adds mesh lights for scifi scenes and a button that adds volumetric fog without setting it up yourself. You can light your model over the Vera Platform, which is a plane for your model, or against a transparent or black background depending on your preference.
Other controls let you change the background world color and scene exposure, add and customise coloured lights, and switch between light studio assets, with a fast render update while you work. It supports Blender 4.0 through 5.2, renders in Cycles and Eevee, is GPL licensed, and is also available on Gumroad.
Vera Light Studio is best for blender artists who want quick, preset-based lighting for models, including scifi scenes using mesh lights and volumetric fog.
Vera Light Studio is completely free to download and use.
Vera Light Studio lists Blender compatibility from 4.0 through 5.2, so recent Blender releases are covered. It works with both the Cycles and Eevee render engines, which means you can use its presets whichever of those two engines your scene relies on. The add-on installs into the Blender 2.8+ folder, and it offers a fast render update while you light, so adjustments show up quickly as you switch between setups. Check the developer's page for the latest supported versions before you download.
Vera Light Studio installs from a downloaded zip file. Extract the zip and read the included README for guidance, or simply extract the zip and install it into the Blender 2.8+ folder if you are on a recent Blender version. Once installed, you place your model in the middle of the grid, since Vera positions its lights from the middle of the viewport. From there you tap a lighting preset and the add-on arranges the lights around your model for you.
Vera Light Studio is listed as free in this catalog, so you can add it without a purchase here. Licensing is GPL, and the tool is also available on Gumroad. The developer notes that monthly updates and additional presets come with supporting the project through a purchase, so update terms can vary by source. For current licensing details and the latest version, check the developer's page before you download rather than relying on a fixed arrangement.
Vera Light Studio positions its lights automatically from the middle of the viewport, so placing your model in the middle of the grid lets the Vera Lights illuminate it correctly. The preset groups include rim lights for the back of the model, top lights such as Top, Right Top, Left Top, Front Top and Back Top, and side lights including Left, Right, Front Left and Front Right. You can edit each light, move it to your own location, and rotate it however you want.
