Earns its place in the superhive library as a one-click lattice generator that handles fitting, alignment, and modifier setup for Blender users.
Volume Autofit Lattice is an addon for Blender that generates a lattice fitted around a selection in a single click, removing the manual positioning, scaling, and aligning normally involved in lattice setup. It builds the smallest lattice that fully contains the selection and detects the natural axes of the mesh to align the lattice accordingly.
The addon works with vertices, edges, or faces in both Edit and Object modes, and supports mesh objects, curve objects, and multiple object selections. You can fine-tune subdivision density for the lattice's deformation control, set custom margins for room around the selection, and toggle a wireframe bounding box to preview the lattice volume before creation. Each generated lattice comes with a properly configured lattice modifier for a non-destructive workflow.
Because the tool uses vertices to calculate orientation, selections or objects with a very high vertex count may take longer to reach the optimal lattice transform. It suits character artists working on organic deformations, hard-surface modelers, and animators streamlining rigging.
Volume Autofit Lattice is best for character artists working on organic deformations, hard-surface modelers, and animators streamlining rigging setup.
Volume Autofit Lattice is completely free to download and use.
Volume Autofit Lattice works with Blender 3.0 and higher. The listed compatibility covers versions 3.0 through 4.4, including 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3. If you are on an older release than 3.0, the addon is not supported. Check the developer's page to confirm the current version details before installing on your specific Blender build.
Volume Autofit Lattice works in both Edit and Object modes and can operate on vertices, edges, or faces. It also supports mesh objects, curve objects, and multiple object selections, so you can generate a fitted lattice from a range of selection types. This flexibility lets you set up lattice deformation whether you are working at the component level in Edit mode or at the object level.
Volume Autofit Lattice uses vertices to calculate the orientation of your object. On selections or objects with a very large number of vertices, this calculation can take some time before it reaches the optimal lattice transform. This is expected behaviour tied to how the tool determines alignment, so denser meshes may require a moment longer to process than lighter selections. Keeping this in mind helps you anticipate the wait when working with heavy geometry rather than treating the pause as an error.
Volume Autofit Lattice is listed as free in this catalog and is distributed under the GPL license. Licensing and availability can change, so check the developer's page for the current terms before downloading. A demo video is also available if you want to see the addon in action before adding it to your Blender setup, giving you a clear sense of how the one-click lattice generation works in practice.
