Vray ACES Convert is a 3ds Max script from SimonBourgeois for moving Gamma Workflow scenes over to ACES OCIO. It converts any kind of Vray material, along with VrayLight, Vray displacement modifiers, VrayFur, Chaos Scatter, and Forestpack bitmaps. The process runs automatically: it first turns any 3ds Max bitmap into a VrayBitmap, then sets diffuse, reflect, translucent, self illum, fog color, and environment bitmaps to srgb-srgb, or to none-raw when the bitmap is .exr or .hdr, while other bitmaps are set to none-raw.
Maps that need splitting are uninstanced even in complex setups such as ColorCorrection, Multitex, and Composite, and where possible the script creates only two versions of the same bitmap. You can apply it to the current selection or all objects, batch process max files from a folder with or without subfolders, browse and select one or more files, or batch convert .mat files.
Installation is drag and drop of the .mzp file into the 3ds Max viewport. It has been tested on 3ds Max 2024 and 2025, with support for 2026 added in update 2.2. Version 2.3 stores user settings when the script closes and reloads them on open.
