Wicker earns a spot in the superhive library for turning a tricky modeling task into a one-button conversion driven by the UV map. It's released under the GPL license and bundled with CGMatter's Genie.
Wicker is a Blender add-on from CGMatter that converts any mesh into wicker with a single button. Wicker is hard to model by hand, and this add-on turns that job into a one-button operation while still giving you a full set of controls.
The conversion calculates dynamically off your mesh's UV map. That means you can keep modeling as you go: add new faces, recalculate the UVs, and Wicker updates from there. A range of parameters shapes the result, including Resolution for the maximum detail allowed, Density for how densely the weave is packed (the number of waves), Height for deviation from the original surface, and Thickness and Width for the weave and its strands. An experimental Cull option helps clean up degenerate geometry.
Wicker installs like any other Blender add-on by dragging the .zip into Blender, and it requires version 4.3 or newer. It's released under the GPL license, comes with documentation, and is also bundled with CGMatter's Genie.
Wicker is best for blender artists who need to convert meshes into woven wicker surfaces.
Wicker is completely free to download and use.
Wicker lists compatibility with Blender 4.3 and 4.4, and the developer notes you'll need version 4.3 or newer to run it. It's marked as Blender Extension compatible and distributed as an add-on. If you're on an older release, you'd need to update Blender first before installing. For the current list of supported versions and any newer builds, check the developer's page, since compatibility details can change as Blender itself is updated.
Wicker installs the same way as any other Blender add-on: drag the .zip file directly into Blender. Before you do, make sure you're running Blender 4.3 or newer, since that's the minimum version required. Once installed, the add-on gives you a one-button conversion from any mesh into wicker, along with its set of controls for resolution, density, height, thickness and width. Wicker also comes with documentation you can refer to during setup.
Wicker calculates its weave dynamically off your UV map, so you can keep modeling as you go. If you add new faces to the mesh, you can simply recalculate the UVs and Wicker works from that updated map. Its set of controls, including resolution, density, height, thickness and width, let you tune the result, so you can shape the weave after the conversion.
Wicker is listed as free in this catalog, and it's released under the GPL license. The add-on is also bundled with CGMatter's Genie, which you can get heavily discounted. Because licensing and any pricing can change over time, check the developer's page for the current terms before you rely on them. For reference, Wicker is published as a Blender add-on and marked as Blender Extension compatible.
